BFC0504 Owls

Not rated yet

You can stitch this owl two ways: as a complete design in one hooping or combine the three sections for a large owl. The combined designs will create an owl 12.6"x8.1" and the large size measures 16.25" x 10.5" . Fred stitched the medium size owl on the shirt below for me. I haven't decided yet whether I will include the moon. And I will probably put the defiant little gray owl on the front. In addition to clothing you could make a beautiful picture - perhaps on black velvet. The designs can be combined in other ways. You could add the barn in the background of the large owl or in combination with one of the other owls. Any of the owls will look nice with the moon in the background. You will receive templates for layout and instructions for stitching the large combined owl.

    HI there,
I am in the process of a costume design that utilizes the large owl. 3 questions-
1- if you ran the large owl, did you have any issues with the stitch out? I only have one shot at running it
2- do you have a color chart, so to speak, on the threads you used? The colorway is lovely.
3- what type of owl is this patterned after
I design costumes entirely for photography and post primarily on Instagram as Craggane Designs, although we do have a website. Thanks so much and I look forward to your answers!
    Sincerely,
    Linda Cooper

Hello LInda, We stitch all of our designs and had no problems but I would never put a design on a costume or piece of clothing without doing a test stitch. Different fabrics, threads, etc can make differences in how designs stitch. If you decide to do this, use a piece of fabric the same or as close as possible to your costume. thread colors don't make a difference. it's just to make sure it doesn't pucker or have gaps anywhere. The thread we were using when we did the owls is no longer being manufactured. Because I loved the colors so much I eventually came out with my own brand of thread and duplicated many of those colors. Did you download the colorchart.zip file? You need that for the order of colors for each design. There is also a conversion chart to many brands. If you want our thread, you can get a conversion chart at the very bottom of the home page. I looked at our website - gorgeous!!!! I have especially always loved the celtic music, dance, etc. I might have to get your book. :) I'm going to have another look! Thank you - Suz
