right corner block is the free downloadfrom the design set of a matching
quilt label with my name & date.stitched on it Notice, if you
can, the lower left block that I did.The center of the block has my
'last name initial "B'' monogrammed, withmy husband's & my
first initial on opposite sides of the 'B' , which is'L' & 'P'.
Below the 'B' I have stitched a 'bow' design. The is ourlast name

"Nativity A
Child Is Born" "I saw this design in Quilter's Newsletter
Magazine Quilt It ForChristmas 2003 and wanted to try it. The biggest
challenge for thisproject is to find the background fabrics with all
the colors. I changeda couple of things about mine from the directions.
I squared the top andbottom so it would be easier to hang. I have
also made just the centersquare as a wall hanging and the center square
with the top. This wasdesigned by Dilys Fronks, she is well known
for her silhouetteappliques."

The center was a
counted cross stitch design that Ihad finished about a year ago and
didn'tknow how I wanted to finish it. Finally decided to put it together
using embroidered freebies from the net and quilt it. |

"This is what
I did with the Geisha you sent me. There are beads in her hair at
the headdress line and in the petals of the 3-d flowers. Also, the
butterflies are 3-D. The background is a screenprint from Cindy Loosekamp
from 2000. I used built in stitches that I tweaked for the flowers
and leaves on the arbor. I also free motion stitched grass on top
of the screenprint grass. The borders are dark grey and deep purple/magenta
silk." |

"At one time,
this geisha design was free on the Viking Emnet website but it is
no longer there. The design was split and stitched in two hoopings.
She hangs in my guest bathroom along with another framed and matted
geisha in the same size."

The design came from Emblibrary and stitches out beautifully. I stitched
it on a piece of Rayon moire with a couple of non tear away pieces
of stabilizer as it is a dense design. I cut it out around the design
leaving just enough not to cut the stitches. Left all the stabilizer
on
the back. Put it on another piece of rayon moire and framed it.

"I am sending a picture of a quilt I made as a graduation
present. I embroidered each lighthouse on white with silver flecks.
Then I attached a colored piece to the top with an oval cut out.
Next, I sewed quick bias around the oval to "frame" each
lighthouse. All the lighthouses are from Cactus Punch except the
Hilton Head. I digitized it because it was a favorite of the recipient.
It is my one and only digitizing experience."

"here is a baby quilt that I made for one of
the physicians I work for. He and his wife were told
early in their pregnancy that "something was wrong"
with the baby and they did not know whether or not the
baby would make it after she was born. This physician
is a wonderful, thoughtful and kind person and I
wanted the quilt to be something special for them. I
used the applique angels from Roberta's Creations -
this was the first applique I had ever done - I love
her designs. I surrounded the picture of the baby
with the angels so the baby will be "protected". BTW,
the baby is doing just fine now!"

"I am attaching a picture of a Wall Hanging I have made.
I call it Sayonara Okinawa. The woman was on a Japanese hand towel
. I drew her face and appliquéd by hand the Kimono using
a Kimono that was made for our daughter when we lived on Okinawa
in the 1950's. The red was the lining of the Kimono."

"I have attached the scan of a cotton throw which I just
completed with a free design from Carolinadesigns (If I remember
correctly). You can't see it in the scan, but in the water I used
an irridescent thread in a blue tone to give a realistic effect
to the brook. I don't have a digital camera at this time, so a scan
is the only way I can enter.

"I made this
for Christmas 2003. The alphabets used were from Deer Haven Designs.
The embroidered area of this wall hanging measures approx. 21"
x 16" and required four separate hoopings. It was a fun project
to do and I hung it in my entrance hall to greet my guests when they
visited over the holiday season. " |

"one has wedding
bells on it and also white doves on it too. I put satin ribbons on
each pillow to tie the rings on with. I used embroidery designs by
Elsa from South Africa. The other picture is of a baby crib quilt
that I made I embroidered teddy bears in each block. This is the first
quilt that I have ever made. I'm sure it will not be my last. I enjoyed
making it so much!!! " |

"Here's my
Acadia Barn. I got the barn from a web site that sells house plans.
The woodie is from George' web site. I made the scene look 3d by embroidering
over the trees in the downloaded picture. The trees are from Amazing
Designs. I added buttons for "cuteness". It is called Acadia
Barn because the barn reminded me of Acadia National Park in Maine
where we go every summer to camp.
Sorry for the grainy shots. I am using my web cam while my digital
camera is in for repair.

"Sue, this
is a set that I did for a silent auction to be held at my grandson's
grade school in Los Angeles to raise money for the library and art
and music programs. The quilt designs are from Stitch and a Half.
The bib is from Hatched in Africa, but I added a matching design.
The set includes the quilt, pillow and bib. |

I got the patterns
several years ago, which were free at that time, from sherio.com.
they are all machine cross-stitched. I started stitching them and
they were so cute I decided to put them together and make a patchwork
quilt. |

I took some Precious
Moments hand cross stitch designs and did them up in my Pattern Maker
Pro and then stitched them out on Kona snow material. I made these
two baby quilts and matching diaper bag for my son-in-laws sister,
she is having fraternal twins, as a gift. The quilt blocks surrounding
the cross stitch designs were from a quilt block swap I was in, using
1930's fabric and our choice of six inch block patterns. The pattern
for the diaper bag is a McCall's pattern #P253, I did have to make
some alterations to the pattern so I could work in the "There
was an old lady" on the front...........On the inside of the
diaper bag I added a quilted pouch for everyday items and on each
end inside I made a pouch for each of the baby's bottles. Between
layers I used the iron on vinyl to protect the material if a baby
bottle decides to leak.. |

When my father died
a few years ago, we had a room at a funeral parlor.
Most places like this have a cold type black board they put the family
name on an easel.
My friend and I used a place mat and put some words on it. For a short
time it sat outside the room on the easel. Then he was cremated and
so we put it next to the urn and flag later.
The owners of the mortuary said they had never seen anything so nice
as that in their entire business life, also many others commented
on how nice it was.
We had a very large family with 9 children so we could not begin to
fit all the names, so we kept it simple. A person can put any words
they want on one.
Then I made the same type thing when my niece got married on a boat.
It had the names, date, and place, along with an embroidered picture
of the old style paddle boat.
In both occasions there was a picture to immortalize the event forever.
The wedding announcement had that same boat on it as was on the picture.
For embroiders it is a nice gift to make for what ever the occasion
may be.
If you can copy the information on the invitations that is nice, if
you cant then it is nice to fill it with a lace type scroll of some
kind.
For most occasions I would keep small so it can be hung on a wall
by the wedding pictures or other events like a graduation diploma
etc. I would not get any bigger than a 10'' x 13'' frame. Matting
also makes it look very nice and professional too it also helps to
save a lot of work on the edges. I would advise in most occasions
to keep the colors and matting neutral, so it wont clash with anything,
unless in a school color event I would use the school colors for the
sewing part. |

I did this wall
hanigng for a color theory class I am taking. The task
this time was to use only neutrals. I loved this picture I found
on-line so I translated it to fabric. The moose and his shadow are
done
out of ultra suede. |
