  • Our cheetah appears above the grasses as the sun drops and casts a large shadow on him, giving a little more courage to go out to hunt. If you wanted you could use a batik or copy of an African sunset to use as his back drop.  Yes, he has a lot of stitches, but they result in him seeming to leap off the fabric.  He stares right at you!  I stitched the large size for my sample.  I'm thinking of making him into a pillow with some cheetah print fabric as the back.

  • I wanted to create a grayscale drawing of a lion but i couldn't resist giving him piercing gold eyes.  To me this design gives the feeling of aged wisdom in the feline world.  The challenge of this kind of drawing is creating depth without the use of color. Other than the gold, there are only 4 colors - Black, White and two shades of gray.  If you want him in more natural colors, you could substitute two golden browns for the two grays.  I

  • Many cultures, especially the ancient Celts, have used tribal designs to denote religious following, clan designation and the like. The designs have deep meaning - the tribal lion  could signify a person's loyalty, honor, courage or family crest.  You can stitch this design in two ways - putting 3 sections together or stitching the Commercial size as one design.

  • This beautiful young woman, torn between the modern world and her heritage looks wary and fearful.  She seeks help from  her totem - the Warrior Cougar -- for decisiveness to choose the right path for her life. The female Cougar is known for her awareness and ability to plan out the best way to proceed.

While some Native American peoples dreaded and greatly feared the Cougars (Mountain Lion, Puma ), some embraced them as their totems.

You can stitch this pair on their own background as shown, or on batik fabric or other fabric with some texture.  Or since they are each complete designs you can use them individually on projects.

Alignment lines and instructions included to easily line up the designs for a full picture. The image before the Free Design shows how the designs go together.

  • There are only 60 Amur Leopards. But in 2007 there were only 30! They live in the Far Eastern Russian forests. They have very thick long coats to live in the cold climate. They are up to 105 pounds and can run at 37 miles per hour. Conservationists are enthusiastic that they can be saved from extinction since there were less than 40 Amur Tigers in the 1940s and they now number between 405 - 500 individuals. Hopefully the Amur Leopard will be as successful. See also Endangered Species - Amur Leopard

  • The Amur or Siberian Tiger is the largest of all the big cats. There are currently 400 - 500 in the wild. At one point only 20 -30 existed. Conservation efforts have helped to bring them back. They live mostly along the Amur River in Russia. Did you know that every Tiger has it's own unique pattern of stripes? And only Bengal Tigers can have a mutation that makes them white.

This set is designed to be stitched on one piece of fabric. The sections *mesh together* to hide seam lines. The sample I did below was done with the individual Medium size designs. Full instructions included.

The medium set of designs will make a picture (without any borders added) 14" x 11"; the large, 16.5"x13"; and the Jumbo, 19.8" x 15.6".

  • The Tiger (symbol of the physical world and Fire) and the Dragon (symbol of the spiritual world and water) together represent the harmony in life as does the Ying/Yang symbol. You have a lot of options with this set. You can stitch the Tiger and Dragon together as below, or just the Tiger. You also get a dragon sized to stitch in one hooping. The Dragon head from the split dragon would make a great accent design on a shirt.Even the center of the Tiger's face could make an interesting design. The Medium size Tiger and Dragon is 10.5 x 9 inches. The large is 12.7 by 10.8 inches. You receive instructions for stitching and a full size template to help with placement. These designs can make pictures, pillows, shirt or jacket backs and many other projects.

BONUS: You will also receive full instructions to make the bag shown! These include a super easy way to create a lining with a divider using only 3 pieces of fabric. The finished craft bag is 15.5 x 15.5 inches - plenty big to hold your knitting or other projects. The instructions can be adapted to make a bag using any designs or fabric. The bag stitches up quickly!

  • Tigers are one of the few cats that love water. You will find them in places with dense vegetation and access to water. Though avid swimmers, they don't like to get their eyes wet and will often enter water backwards. A tiger's stripes are like our fingerprints and the pattern is unique to each animal.

This tiger is cautiously wading through a small stream probably in search of prey. The designs are stitched on black fabric with some of the fabric showing in the finished picture. It could also be done on a dark green batik perhaps mottled with brown.

The medium set of designs will make a picture (without any borders added) 14.7"x 9.8"; the large, 17.5"x11.6" and the small, 11.6" x 7.8.

Fred thought you might like a collage of his Big Cats. These designs are taken from his Big Cats set. And of course it will make a great picture also. Fred used a mottled dark green as background for his sample. You could also use black or a subtle dark green leaf pattern.

The small set of designs will make a picture 11.6" x 11.6", the medium set will be 15"x15" and the large, 17.5"x17.5".

  • Fred's cats always seem to be peering right at you and this Cheetah is no exception. This is designed to be stitched on black fabric - the black background is fabric, not embroidery. As I am just looking at him, I can picture him stitched on a shirt or jacket front or back, with the straight side going along a seam....something a little different! You could even stitch him in squares, sew them together, fuse a piece of fabric to the back and cut out the cat. You could then use him as an appliqué. If you trimmed the straight side a little to make it rounder, you could place him anywhere! Something to give you an idea for other uses for some of Fred's cats.

The medium size, shown below is 10x15 inches, the small would be 8x12 inches and the large would be 12x18 inches. This size would also be appropriate for a pillow.

  • Each of Fred's Big cats seem to come alive as they are stitching. Seeing this jaguar in person you can almost feel the softness of the fur.

The medium set of designs will make a picture (without any borders added) 14.7"x 9.8"; the large, 17.5"x11.6" and the small, 11.6" x 7.8.

  • White Tigers are not a separate species, but members of the Siberian or Bengal Tigers that have received a recessive gene from both parents. They are not Albinos as they have stripes, pink noses and blue, green or amber eyes. There are seldom any found in the wild and are mostly bred in captivity. Mohan, meaning *Enchantress* was the father of all White Bengals in captivity. He was found in Bandhavgarh and housed in the Maharajah's palace. One of his offspring was presented to President Eisenhower in 1960.

  • These cats are even more breathtaking in person. I can see them on jackets, pillows, totes or especially a black wool or fleece throw for that special place. With Father's Day that not far away they would also make great presents for the men in your life.
