Every year for the past 5 or 6 years I have done a Large Eagle as the 4th of July approaches with the exception of last year due to the Pandemic. This year I have chosen a screaming Eagle with the hopes that life will come back with a renewed sense of vigor and hope.

For the past 3 years I have done a Large Eagle with the American Flag in commemoration of America's independence on the 4th of July. This year is no exception. This is slightly more of a horizontal presentation with the flag flowing in the back. With this set there are now a total of four in the collection. They are as follows: BFC1463, BFC1574, and BFC1662.
PLEASE NOTE: This design should be stitched on white or a light color or the stripes for the flag will not be the right color. Or you can stitch the entire design on white and applique it on a darker fabric.

These designs for the Large Eagle are designed to be stitched on one piece of fabric. In addition to a picture, you could use the Large Eagle on a pillow, a vest or the back of a jacket. I can also see him on a great living room or den throw. A Commercial size will be included with the Complete set as well as each of the sizes. Instructions included. Dimensions are as follows:

The Intense stare of Freedom and Determination shown in the Eagle are symbols in this important year for the US. The Eagle will make a wonderful tribute to the United States framed as below. The Bald Eagle is truly majestic. They are 28" to 40" long, have a wingspan of 6 ft. to 7.5 ft. and weight 6 to 14 pounds. Their nests average 13 ft deep, 8.2 ft. wide and weigh 1 metric ton! There is a nest on record that weighed 3 tons. I am very happy that they are starting come back to Massachusetts. I am always watching out my window while I work and hope some day I will see one. I had never heard of white hawks until Fred did this set of designs. They are indigenous to Mexico and Central and South America. Their wing span is about 2 feet and they average 20" in length. With their white heads and bodies and black on their wings and tail they must be very impressive gliding through the sky!

The Eagle joins our Blue and Gold Macaw, Peacock, Snowy Egret, Heron ,Scarlet Macaw and Cockatoo in our large bird series. You will receive full instructions for an easy way to line up these designs! You will also receive the entire design in several versions for large hoops. Two files are the complete design (16.9" x 8.4" and 13.5" x 6.7") and two versions are split in two sections (12.8" x 7.8" and 11" x 7.3"; and 10.2" x 6.2" and 8.7" x 5.8"). This eagle flying against a blazing fall background completes the series of Eagles through the seasons. The other sets are: Summertime, Springtime and Winter.
You also receive a satin stitch border you can use with the designs. You stitch it after the design is finished and then zig zag the sections together. Or you can use iron on bias tape to finish the seams and make it a real *window*.

This is a new concept in our Windows designs. It is patterned after similar quilted wall hangings that combine small vignettes of a similar theme into a dramatic wall hanging. And you can of course stitch each vignette as a separate picture! You can also put the smaller pictures together with sashing strips of coordinating fabric for even more drama.

Few birds are as majestic looking as the eagle. It is easy to see why it is the National Bird in the US. Fred has done a dramatic rendition focusing on the piercing eye against a black background. Here in America the eagle holds a special place in our hearts and these designs can be used for anything from framed pictures to gracing the back of a favorite shirt or jacket.

Man and falcon have hunted together since the early part of the 7th century BC in Assyria. There are references to Falconry in China as early as 680 BC and Japan in 206 BC. Falcons are members of the Raptor family - Birds of Prey. They have eyes so large they can't move them and hence turn their heads to view their world. (as you can see in some of the poses below). Their eyesight is two to three times better than ours and some can see a grasshopper from the other side of a football field. These beauties with their watchful eyes would make a wonderful wall hanging when grouped together or use one of more to accent clothing, bags and pictures.
A great site to learn more about Falcons (especially the Merlin - my favorite Falcon) is The Merlin Falcon Foundation. They have helped me a lot in my *raptor* watching.

I think part of the fascination throughout history with Eagles and Wolves has to do with their eyes. They seem to be able to see more than we can comprehend. Fred has captured the many expressions of their eyes here - pensive, defiant, piercing, all knowing.
