  • A Victorian Era salon was a hosted, cultural event featuring Art, Philosophy or Literature.  I thought it would be fun to use some artistic license and make a *Silk* salon!  A gathering of ladies that can choose the latest fabrics for their fashions would be so much fun.  You will receive templates and full instructions to make the background and add your designs.  You can stitch them all directly onto your background but I also show you a way to stitch them separately and fuse them to your project.  This method is fun because there is no *lining up* that you need to do.  And of course you can make your own arrangement of the designs.

    Sizes of finished project:

    Medium 20.2"x13.4", Large 23.8"x15.7", Jumbo 29.8"x19.17"

  •  When I was finishing up the 12 Days of Christmas Rick said it would be great if I was doing sewing things. Well - I couldn't resist and created these designs. I know they are kind of silly, but also you might find a bit of truth in them. I'm the one trying to thread the needle! The text is a separate color stop so you can choose whether or not to stitch it. Use these gals for tote bags, aprons, pictures for your sewing room, clothing and wherever you want a bit of stitching fun!

  •  The Singer Featherweight 221 was last produced in 1964 yet there are quilters all over the world that still love to stitch on them. This set is designed to be stitched on one piece of fabric. The sections *mesh together* to hide seam lines. The sample I did below was done with the individual Medium size designs. Full instructions are included.

The medium set of designs will make your machine 13.1” x 9”; the large, 15.5” x 10.6; and the Jumbo, 18.6” x 12.7".

  • Make your self a sewing tote bag with these great accessory designs. Add a sewing machine from BFC1212 Vintage Sewing Machines for a one of a kind Tote or Wall hanging. These would also be really cute on a denim shirt or smock to wear while you sew. How many of us still have a red tomato?

  • Sally expands upon her wonderful shoes! She has two more trios ready for me to turn into designs and she is working on a fourth. These are so much fun! Perhaps my wall hanging will give you some ideas to use this sewing shoe, hat and bag.
Sally is from the UK and has a wonderful sense of whimsy and creativity. I can see these shoes on handbags and totes, quilts (as my start of one below shows), throws, pictures - anywhere you want to bring a smile. Try them with metallic threads and lots of bling! Instructions for the Wall hanging Included.

  •  There are lots of ways to use these designs! Some possibilities are shown below. There are two inner border designs and an outer design. You also get a plain circle to use with printed fabric. Make quilts, place mats, totes, anything that can use a little patchwork! You get instructions to do these designs as Quilt in the hoop or as regular designs. You also get instructions how to turn the larger designs into Quilt in the Hoop type designs to use with the borders!
These designs are mostly my own art work with the help of clipart here and there.

  • triptych - A painting or carving that has three side-by-side parts, panels, or canvases.

The modernization of China took many different avenues. One was the wearing of British dress. Though industrialization lagged behind many other countries, it was slowly being emulated even in the traditional crafts like sewing.

Though I have made a screen from the designs, they are also appropriate for pictures - framed or made as a quilted wall hanging, or for quilts. You can add more lattice designs to make larger panels for either the screen or quilt. Stitch the lattice designs on patterned fabric and have even more options!

The screen below is made entirely from things in our sewing rooms except maybe the hinges. No wood or framing involved! You will receive instructions to make your own screen. I have used the medium size designs and my screen panels are 24" high x 12.5" wide. NOTE: The jumbo designs are sized for the 8x8 hoop.

A sewing tote that is fun to carry! And there are enough pockets to hold everything you might need. Full instructions are included to easily make the bag any size you like so even those with a 4x4 hoop can make a large tote. The design section of the small bag is 11.8"x10.3", the medium 15 "x13" and the large 17.7" x15.4". You can assemble the designs as a solid front or with a velcro pocket as shown in the sample. The instructions also tell you how to assemble the designs so there will be no *fuzzies*. Other details like the tab that keeps the tote closed make this a special bag for you or a stitching friend.

A fun part of making this is finding things to embellish the front of the bag. I used safety pins, hooks and eyes, buttons and lace. An *extra* that comes with this bag is an Excel spreadsheet that lets you calculate what size to cut all your pieces based on the size you make your front. A chart to do this is also included for those of you that can't open Excel files.

  •  A great addition to our sewing rooms or a gift for a stitching friend!

The history of the sewing machine is fascinating and fraught with the collision of craftsmanship and mechanization - even violence. In 1846, Howe was the first to patent the process of a machine using two threads and a needle with an eye. His machine was limited though and he became disillusioned and broke. In 1850 Isaac Singer developed a true sewing machine and along with other manufacturers, the sewing machine industry began. Howe noticed that all these machines used his patented method. He sued and won $25 for every sewing machine sold. He became rich without ever having sold a machine.

    The small size picture (without sashing) is 7.8 x 11.6 inches, the medium 9.8 x 14.6 and the large 11.6 x 17. 4.
