  • Based on a Rose Window in the Palma de Mallorca Cathedral, Majorca, Spain, there are two versions of the designs. You will receive designs and instructions for both versions. One version is stitched on black fabric. The other is designed to be used with Angelina Fibers, film or Organza. This version is translucent and would be great to hang in a window. As you can see, you can use many different color combinations!

  • These stained glass windows are based on  actual windows in a Church in Kentucky.  You can do them as regular designs, Quilt in the Hoop designs or stitch the panels on Organza and Angelina film as I did. You can do all three panels or make just one panel to fit a small space or hang in a window. You receive full instructions for all methods to complete your project and the steps I used to finish the sample below.

  • This design is based on a Rose window from St. Bede's Church in New South Wales, Australia.   The flowers are the red Waratah, emblem of the state of New South Wales, white Flannel Flowers, red and gold Christmas Bells and golden Wattle. You can stitch these as regular designs or as Quilt in the Hoop designs. There are full instructions for both methods and also for assembling and finishing your Window. You can use the window for a wall hanging, a pillow, or as I'm going to do, a table mat for the center of my kitchen table.
     Finished Sizes: Medium - 19.7 x 19.7", Large -23.2” x 23.2". Jumbo - 27.9” x 27.9"

  • This design is based on a Rose window from St. Nicholas’s Cathedral in Italy.  There are two versions of the designs. You will receive two versions of the designs. One version has all of the black stitched and the other is designed to be stitched on black fabric. The sample below was done without stitching the black.   In addition to a wall hanging, you can use these designs for pillows and some have recently suggested placing it under glass on a small table.

  • A Rose Window is any Stained Glass window divided into segments around a circular center. The term is most often used for Gothic Architecture, but is also used more widely. This Rose Window is from the Presidential Palace in Peru.

Fred wanted me to tell everyone that he stitched and finished this Window himself! He had never used a sewing machine and he had to admit it wasn't hard at all when he was finished. His comment was *if I can do it, anyone can!*.

The design to the left of the Peruvian Rose Window in the image is BFC0501 Art Nouveau Stained Glass Peacock

  • You have a lot of options with this set! There is a small center circle with three rows of designs. You can make a complete *window* - A square with large circle inside. (It is a true square – I just hung it on point.) Or make a smaller circle (just the first row of designs) or just the larger circle (the second and third rows of designs). You can appliqué the outer row alone as the center of a tablecloth, perhaps with other designs in the center. The individual corner sections could then be appliquéd on the corners of the tablecloth. This set would also make a great quilt centerpiece. You could use the outer corners in the corner of the quilt. The designs can also be stitched on organza, batiste or voile to let the sun shine through.

    FINSIHED SIZES: (In inches)

    First Row Circle Medium - 17.1x17.1; Large - 20.3x20.3; Jumbo - 24x24

    Second Row Circle Medium - 24.75x24.75: Large - 29.5x29.5; Jumbo - 34.75x34.75

    Complete Square Medium - 26.6x26.6; Large - 31.7x31.7; Jumbo - 37.4x37.4

  • *Rose Window* is often used for any circular window, but the name is specifically used for the windows in cathedrals of Gothic Architectural style with stone mullions and tracery. This set is taken from the Rose Window in the Strasbourg Cathedral in France. You receive two versions of the designs so you can stitch them as regular designs without batting or as Quilt in the Hoop designs with batting and backing fabric. Instructions are included for an easy method to join the sections without having any *fuzzies*. (note: the scalloped edge on my sample is braid trim, not part of the designs) You can also use just the center circle as shown below for great pillows.

The medium size window is 24 inches across, the large is 28.8 inches and the Jumbo is 36 inches.

This set can be used as a wall hanging as I've done or it would also make a very impressive center for a quilt.
