BFC1859 Steampunk Explorer

The Steampunk movement was all about industrialization and automation.  Many of the creations were truly impossible but expanded imaginations.  This hot air balloon that set out  on it's own to catch butterflies for research is one of these fantastic machines.  I wish I could see it catching a butterfly!

    Hello Suz
I am preparing to stitch out this embroidery design and want to use a good quality quilting/patchwork cotton for the base and would appreciate advice on the type of stabilizer you would recommend the this project. Many thanks
    Tina

I Tina - I used two layers of a soft medium tear away. I've found this kind of stabilizer seems to stay in the hoop better. The friction between the layers or something like that. I also always wrap my hoops for this type of project. There is an article in Embroidery Library about wrapping: https://www.emblibrary.com/EL/ELProjects/Projects.aspx?productid=PR1138 It's the second article on this page by Joan Warr.
    I hope this helps!

Hello Wilma - Thank you!!!! I'm really getting to love steampunk.

You can buy the design in different ways. If you have smaller hoops, you buy the design as shown in sections. We have a very easy way to line them up and you get full instructions. Or if you have a larger hoop, you can buy the Commercial size: 8.6 x 12.4 inches. or 10.1 x 14.6 inches. These will stitch the whole design in one hooping. Don't hesitate to write back if you aren't sure about this. :)
    Thanks!
    Suz
