Horses have been part of Art throughout the centuries. From the stallion racing across the plains to the very ornate armament of military horses, these beautiful animals add grace and style to whatever you put them on. Our Steampunk Horse is a totally different example for you to use to grace the back of a jacket, a handbag or a picture.
Please Note: I used our Metallic Silver for most of the metallic parts of our Horse. 6600 stitches with no breaks! I used a regular 75/11 needle and slowed down the machine to 500 spm

All of the horses have Merry-go-Round poles. These stitch in the first two color stops in each design. If you
want to eliminate them, just start at color stop 3.
There are three designs with different size poles. I included these in case you want a taller pole on the horses or
want to put poles on other designs (such as benches). For each pole design the first color is a wide Satin Stitch.

The Friesian is a horse breed originating in Friesland, in the Netherlands. Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size. Throughout the Middle Ages, ancestors of Friesian horses were in great demand as war horses as their size and agility were perfect for the knight. Though close to extinction their numbers have increaed. This example would make a beautiful framed picture for any Horse lover. Or stitch him on the back of a light colored jacket.

The first 12 of these designs are done with a very bold bean stitch. The second 12 are done with a running stitch and are modified so they can be used for quilting. You will receive instructions to make the table mat/wall hanging shown. These designs come in 4 sizes: 4x4, 5x5, 6x6 and 8x8 for a total of 96 designs in the complete set!

You have two ways to stitch these beautiful horses! One is align the first 5 designs on one piece of fabric for a picture, shirt back, quilt center or even a tote bag. Then you also receive each horse individually to use on other projects (the parts that are covered by the other horses in the picture are filled in to make complete designs). With just a few strokes of pen or brush the Chinese artists capture the sheer strength, beauty and motion of these magnificent animals. Though coming from an Oriental source, these horses don't need to remain in an oriental setting. They can blend in with many styles and themes. The black and gray designs below could be done in many colors - brown and beige, chestnut and black, even all white. And the colored designs can also be adapted to many different horse colors. On the pillow below I substituted a silver metallic thread for the gray and pale green of the ground. Though many of the paintings I found of horses didn't have much background, they often included just a sketchy patch of grass or a hills or trees in the background. I've included two of these designs so you can make a complete arrangement of your horses.
