These birds have the gorgeous bright colors used for so many Ethnic and Folk Art Embroideries. Most of them hint at the variety of bird, but I don’t think that really matters. They are just a celebration of form and color! These designs would make a gorgeous quilt with fabrics of many of the colors in the designs. Or find fabrics you like and change the colors in the embroidery to coordinate!

This bag is really a cross between a Tote Bag and a Handbag. The great feature is the recessed zipper that allows you to open the bag completely and really get to the important *stuff* inside! Also there is no lining up of designs! They are each stitched on a separate piece of fabric. I think you will be surprised how easy this bag is to make – especially the zipper. You receive full patterns and instructions. Sizes of Bag: Medium 13” x 11", Large 15.5” x 13”, Jumbo 18” x 15.5".

Ching Chou has been branching off into other styles and I love them! This beautiful hummingbird has Ching Chou's great colors. The picture is made of 5 designs and you get full instructions for putting it together. The three accent designs can be used on other projects or perhaps a pillow to put close to where you hang the picture. This design would go beautifully with Ching Chou's Barn Owl.
These delightful Tattoos were created from the artwork of Fantasy Artist Ching Chou Kuik. We have signed a licensing agreement so I can create embroidery designs from her work. Two elegant hummingbirds. The sample shows the background totally stitched, but you receive instructions to stitch the designs on white fabric. A glimmery fairy frost would be gorgeous!
You also receive a satin stitch border you can use with the designs. You stitch it after the design is finished and then zigzag the sections together. Or you can use iron on bias tape to finish the seams and make it a real *window*.
The Jumbo size is 15.6 x 23.4 inches, the medium is 9.8 x 14.7 inches, and the large is 11.6 x 17.4 inches. (just the embroidery, not the frame shown below)6 Designs each in 3 Sizes MLJ Check Sizes

I've searched for a long time to find another painting by Martin Johnson Heade that is in the public domain so I could do a companion to our first Hummingbird and Orchid window. The hummingbirds in this painting look like they are a pair and live among bright pink Orchids in this adaptation of a painting by Martin Johnson Heade. (Pre-Raphaelite period) He painted during the late 1800's and was known for his lush floral paintings especially of the flowers of Brazil and hummingbirds. You receive instructions for several different ways to assemble this picture and also satin stitch borders you can use after stitching the design so you can just zig zag them together to finish. This set is for the lower window in the picture below.
Please click on check sizes below to see the stitch counts and sizes of these designs. Be sure your machine can stitch the number of stitches and colors- especially if you are looking at the small size.
The medium size, shown below is 12x20 inches, the small is 8x12 and the large 14x24 inches without borders.

Though based on real hummingbirds, these little guys have a touch of fantasy. You can do them in any colors you like. On the wall hanging below I changed a few of the colors to go better with the fabric background I made. The foliage too can be done in more realistic colors or get as wild as you like! After seeing them flying around the wall hanging I almost wish I had put them on the back of a vest and had a few flying around to the front. In addition to putting these designs together, they can be added with other designs for more possibilities. A Hummingbird tablecloth or quilt would be great, or use them to decorate any kind of linens, garments or totes. To make the fabric background below, I ironed Steam a Seam lite to several fabrics, cut out the shapes and ironed them to a muslin backing. Next I used a blanket stitch and a zig zag stitch to outline the shapes and then added the embroidery.

My Yahoo group has been busy again suggesting new bowls! It seems so many people love hummingbirds and Fuchsias together! This is a buff-bellied hummingbird from the Southern US. The Fuchsias were taken from a photograph I received from Erica's garden.
