I have always loved all forms of Russian Embroidery. Their folk art embroideries are bright with clear colors and patterns. Red, yellow and black are among the favorite colors. Use these designs for a quilt or make great kitchen accessories - aprons, hot mats, towels, placemats or table covers!

Matryoshka Dolls, also known as nesting dolls, were first made in Russia in 1890. They were hand painted, sometimes with very intricate designs and various sizes fit inside each other. Traditionally the outer one is a woman, but those inside can be either gender, usually ending with a baby. These designs can be used with Embroidery Glitter.

The ancestry of the Tadjik people goes back 4000 years. This ethnic group has lived in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Pakistan and China, along the *Silk Road*. Originally influenced by Persian arts, you can see their influence in the textile work of many countries. They have a rich cultural history of textile ornament. Their embroideries are taken from flowers and vegetation and is always very decorative. This is a companion set to Ancient Russian Florals I and they can be used together. I have used similar colors and styles in this set so you can put them together easily. There are two examples below.
These designs are very appropriate for clothing, linens, pillow, wall hangings and quilts.

The ancestry of the Tadjik people goes back 4000 years. This ethnic group has lived in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzebekistan, Iran, Pakistan and China, along the *Silk Road*. Originally influenced by Persian arts, you can see their influence in the textile work of many countries. They have a rich cultural history of textile ornament. Their embroideries are taken from flowers and vegetation and is always very decorative. There are many examples of large embroideries encompassing an entire piece of fabric. The colors are clear and rich. I have stitched these in some of the traditional colors but these designs lend themselves to any color scheme - even tone on tone. Though they can be used alone, the first three rows of designs are created to be used as large borders. The designs have guidelines to help you line up the designs. (Please note there is a difference in the second design in the 4x4 size to allow for a larger size for the the first and third designs. )
These designs are very appropriate for clothing, linens, pillow, wall hangings and quilts.
