  • I created these designs specifically with a lap quilt in mind. But they can be used for so many things! Picture them on Pillows, clothing, a picture, a children’s apron…the list is endless. I divided them into two sets so you could get one and work on them, then get the other later on to finish the set. This is the second set. Or you can buy the Combo set for more savings.

The picture is of my quilt top.  Batting and backing will be added and then it will be quilted.

  • You will have a lot of options with these designs.  You can make a full size wall hanging as shown, or a small all in one hoop mini scene.  Many of the designs would be great on items for the gardeners in your life.  The text will be especially nice on a gardener's tote bag or apron.  This embroidery has a more modern look to give you some options for people that don't care for the very embellished other styles.

SVG and PDF files are included to cut out the window frame and all the little pieces to the woodwork for the wall hanging.  Full instructions and Templates are with your files so you can complete the Wall Hanging.

  • Fairy gardening has become all the rage during the last few years.  You can find all kinds of information and supplies to create your own Fairy Garden. But for those of us who don’t have the time, space or ambition to create one outside, you can create your own Fairy Garden for your wall or quilt!  I put mine close together because I wanted the look of a garden nestled closely in a big garden.  But for a quilt you could spread them out and use other flower and vegetation, fences, gates, etc. to make a large center panel.

    DESIGNS IN SET:

    Medium          01-12
    Large               13-24
    Jumbo             25-36

  • So many of us love Dragonflies, so I thought I would dress them up a bit!  You can use them as individual designs or make a picture or Art quilt.  I didn’t have time, but I plan to put crystals, beads, gem stones and maybe some fibers on my picture.  I will post a picture of it on the website when I get it done.

Full Instructions, Patterns and Templates are included.

I made mine as a picture without batting or quilting, but I include instructions if you want to make an Art Quilt.

  •  I love fancy pillows - both to display them and to make them. But if I keep making them, I then have to find a place to store the ones not on display. Pillow wraps solve this problem! You can make them any size to fit any pillow. They can be wide enough to almost cover the pillow as below, or make them narrower to show some of the underlying pillow. You receive full instructions with templates to make the two pillows below and three different ways to finish the back. As you can see, one of these is a continuous tube that slides over the pillow and the other closes with velcro.
These are also perfect for gifts! Make someone a basic pillow (you get instructions to make a very easy zippered pillow) and a pillow wrap. Then you always have something you can make them for other occasions.

Because all of these designs are individual, you can make any arrangement you want instead of using the templates and you can also use the designs on other fall projects. As shown below, the small designs would make a design 9.6 inches square, the medium 12 inches square and the large 14.4 inches square. If you need larger sizes, just add a few designs or spread these out a little. Please click on *Check sizes* below. A lot of the medium and large designs will fit a small hoop. I used all medium sizes for the samples.

You get three large designs split for a 5x7 hoop and full instructions to easily line up the sections of the designs. Plus there are three designs that will fit a 5x7 hoop without splitting. Some of the sections of the large designs can also be used by themselves for more options. In addition you get instructions and patterns to create the fabric background below. This finished picture is 36" wide x 32" tall. It would make a dramatic wall hanging or centerpiece for a quilt. The large design will also make nice pictures as shown below!

  •  Though based on real hummingbirds, these little guys have a touch of fantasy. You can do them in any colors you like. On the wall hanging below I changed a few of the colors to go better with the fabric background I made. The foliage too can be done in more realistic colors or get as wild as you like! After seeing them flying around the wall hanging I almost wish I had put them on the back of a vest and had a few flying around to the front. In addition to putting these designs together, they can be added with other designs for more possibilities. A Hummingbird tablecloth or quilt would be great, or use them to decorate any kind of linens, garments or totes. To make the fabric background below, I ironed Steam a Seam lite to several fabrics, cut out the shapes and ironed them to a muslin backing. Next I used a blanket stitch and a zig zag stitch to outline the shapes and then added the embroidery.

  • This set coordinates with BFC675 Windows on the World - Australia and BFC676 Australian Window Designs. I created it initially to be able to stitch the names of the flowers and the states and territories that come from on the back of my Window set. But they can also be used in a quilt using the other two sets. You will get three sizes: Small, which are 3.5 inch squares, Medium, which are 4 inch squares and Large which are 5 inch squares. I have made these a little smaller than the Window squares so the back plate will fit nicely on the back of the window. All the designs stitch an outline first in a different color so you can choose to use it or not. I used the outlines to create the sample below as guides to stitch the squares together. Without the outline, you can place the designs as you wish.

PLEASE NOTE: I have learned that there are two spellings for Waratah and of course I used the least common. :) I have added an additional square with the most used spelling.

  • Kay, from Australia, and I came up with this layout for the Australian Window. As with so many countries, Australia has such variety to choose from! So we thought we would pick a few things everyone would recognize - from the original Aborigines, to the great architecture of the Opera house to the beautiful exotic National and State flowers.

This window coordinates with two other sets: BFC676 Australian Window Designs and BFC677 Australian Backplate. BFC676 has all the elements of this window as separate designs. BFC677 is a set of explanatory lettering you can use to create a back for your window. Or all three sets can be used in a quilt. The window set can be the centerpiece, and the individual designs and lettering can be used for the surrounding blocks.

The small window is 12x16, the medium is 15x20 and the large is 18x24. You receive full instructions on various ways of putting your window together.

  • Barbara, one of our customers, sent me some photos her son had taken in Egypt. I thought they were perfect for a Window set. The shadows of the camel riders in the foreground remind us that there is much in Egypt that hasn't changed over the millennia. And under their feet, the ancient painting of Cleopatra on the Nile portrays all the treasures that still lie under the camels feet and the shifting sands.

For a smaller picture, you could stitch just the top 9 squares. For a larger picture, the 3 bottom squares could be repeated across the top. And of course you could make a mini picture of Cleopatra on her boat.

I can see these designs as appropriate for a quilt or coverlet in addition to wall pictures.

  • The onion domes of Russia are so distinctive that few would not recognize where they are from. St. Basil's Cathedral, built between 1551 and 1561 was commissioned by Ivan the terrible. It is actually separate chapels that are brought together as a cathedral by a large center tower. It is often mistakenly thought of as part of the Kremlin, but though close is totally separate. The interior is quite understated compared to the exterior having many pastel floral decorations. It is a maze of corridors and stairways with so little room for worshippers, special services often have to be held outside.
PLEASE NOTE: This set is done a little differently than our other windows sets. The black fabric is background - not embroidered. Designs 1 and 3 are just outlines you can use to size those blocks. Be sure to read the instructions even if you have done many of our windows.

  • This second in our Windows on the World series depicts one of England's finest medieval castles. The first fortification built on the grounds of Warwick Castle was erected by Ethelfieda, the daughter of Alfred the Great to protect against the Danes. After the Norman conquest in the 11th century, William the Conqueror appointed Henry de Newburgh as Earl of Warwick.

When I visited England, I spent a day in London and then rented a car and drove in a large circle around the country following the wonderful canals. What struck me was the colors of the countryside. The greens and colors of all the flowers met me at every turn. This is the England I wanted to depict in this series along with an expression of the rich history of this wonderful country. This set is done from a photo taken high on the castle looking down on the lush grounds.

This set coordinates with our other Windows on the World design sets.

The small window is 12x16, the medium is 15x20 and the large is 18x24. You receive full instructions on various ways of putting your window together.

  •  Primitive country art has a universal appeal in it's simplicity and views of all aspects of life. I think it also reminds us of a past we've had or wished we had - of a simpler time where family, friends and love were all important.
These designs can of course be stitched on all kinds of items, but you receive a split version of the barn so you can complete a large barnyard as shown below. It is easy to line up and can even be done as appliqued pieces to make it even easier! Other than the barn and flowers, which I stitched directly on the background, the other designs were stitched separately and made into applique pieces with Steam-a Seam. You will receive instructions on how I created the wall hanging. The large barn shown  in medium size is 11.5x9.2 inches; the large size would be 13.8x11 inches. Please note: The large barn has changed slightly from the stitchouts shown. The cream colored bars are now a basic stitch instead of satin stitch to make it easier for all machines to sew.

  • Japanese Panel - Summer is the first in a series of Japanese Panels.  There are two versions - one with fully embroidered backgrounds that you stitch together similar to a Stained Glass set. The other version is individual designs you can stitch on one piece of fabric. I painted some white silk to make my sample below. You will receive an idea file that explains different methods for constructing the designs and specific instructions for creating the samples shown.

When I found the artwork for these designs I of course wanted to know what the characters mean. I asked for help on my group and a delightful lady, Deb, offered to help. Her Mother lives with her and is Japanese. Her Mother recognized *Summer* and *Persimmons* in the writing. Not being satisfied, they wrote to their family in Japan for help. Deb's cousin, his son and a young lady that teaches Japanese at a local university all replied. It seems the characters are very ancient and only a few have survived to current usage. The panel below is a combination of four calligraphy styles: Shousho, Kaisho, Gyousho and Kana. So though I still do not have a full translation, I know that it is a poem about summer and persimmons and that it is from a very ancient painting and of course we have the beauty the original artist portrayed.

You will receive an actual size template (you can see it if you scroll down this page) and instructions on how to put these designs together. They can also be used to create many other scenes, either alone or combined with other oriental designs. I plan on framing mine with a black matting and a gold frame. These garden designs are companion designs to the Lace Bowl & Doily - Garden Oasis. I'm going to use the two sample scenes I did below as the front and back of a big tote to carry a needle work project. They would make a great gift for the gardeners in your life. The three blocks could be used on the front of a gardening apron and the scene could be used as a pillow or picture with word's above like *Ellen's Garden*
In the samples below I used the 4x4 designs for the scene and the 5x7 blocks for the pieced picture. You could also tuck in other plant designs to create a large garden throw.

You have three different scenes in this set - sky with birds and trees, a pond or lake with lots of vegetation and wildlife and an underwater scene. Or combine them all together as below to create the old fishing hole.

I have created the scene below from the fish's point of view - as you see the underwater designs are on a larger scale and they get smaller as you go up. If you get the complete set you can reverse this.

Be sure to check the sizes as many of the large designs will also fit a 5x7 hoop. You can make wall hangings, great shirt backs, a lap quilt or use these designs individually to accent any item. You could create a continuous border with the foliage designs to create great curtains for a den -adding a few flying ducks above and inserting the frog, duck and turtle in between. Experiment with colors on these designs as you can totally change the look. You could even use the grasses to adorn a seaside scene- just change the darker brown dirt with a pale sand color.

There is a matching bowl: LACE BOWL & DOILY - THE FISHIN' HOLE

Terry, one of my customers from Alaska, sent me great photos she took at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. These designs can be used to make a scene as shown below, or they would make a great quilt for a favorite young person. I think they would make a fun denim shirt having the scene on the back and a balloon or two on the front or pockets. There is also a matching scenic bowl, Scenic Bowl & Doily - Balloon Festival.

I want to thank Judy Nixon for the artwork I used to create the bird bath and cats. I will do better justice to her work in a separate set in the future. Thanks Judy!
