  • These are fairly firm lace. You can combine them as shown into a wreath. You could put this wreath on
a Styrofoam form or a heavy fabric with the edges treated to not fray. They also can be used as borders on linens or clothing. Or on a pillow. For the kitchen, you could put the wreath as a centerpiece, towels with one motif stitch on, pot holders – make a complete kitchen set. Change the colors to match your room.
If desired you can stitch the designs directly onto your item – just skip the first color stop.

  • You have a lot of options to make this Bowl and doily set. You can use the designs supplied or substitute with your own designs. You can use a plain colored fabric as I did or mix it with prints that coordinate with the designs. A quicker way would be to alternate the petals with designs and those with just fabric. I used a layer of batting in the bowl pieces to add a little more volume to them.

  • I named this a Touch of Steampunk because it has other elements like music and foliage.  By using different fabrics and colors it will go well in any decor.

The designs are done with bobbins matching your top thread so you have double sided bowl sides.  Very quick stitching even with the changing of bobbins.  There is also a method described that has a plain fabric side eliminating the need for the colored bobbins.  I use Silk Dupioni striped fabric that had large red and green strips.  I used one color stripe for each side of the design.  Full instructions included.  You can also use this to make just a plan fabric bowl with a pretty fabric - no design in the middle, or use the designs for other projects by eliminating the borders.  Lots of options!

  •  This is an elegant bowl even without the flowers! The flowers are all Free standing Lace and can be glued or sewn to your bowl and doily.  Put a ring of them just around the top inside of the bowl, or choose your favorite flowers and leaves and put a flower and two leaves in each doily petal...the possibilities are endless.  I tried several arrangements by using glue dots until I was happy with them and then glued them on.  Many of the flowers are designed to be put together to make 3D flowers. You recieve two sizes or version of most of the flowers and leaves to give you lots of options.

  • You have a lot of options with this bowl and doily! You can make just the trellis bowl and doily as is or embellish them with any of your freestanding designs. You can use the morning glories provided to make it as simple or ornate as you wish. I chose to try something a little different by having them spill over to the inside of the bowl. You get full instructions with pictures and ideas for creating your bowl. You will find this is a very firm bowl and it stands up really nice! You can also use the flowers and leaves for other projects - broaches, jewelry, hair clips, etc. The medium size bowl is 9" across and the medium doily is 13.7" across. The large bowl is 10.7" and the large doily is 16.3"across.

  • Spring is almost here! This bowl would go nicely for an Easter table or anywhere you want to add a little spring color and be reminded that these spring bulbs will soon be showing themselves. There is a coordinating set of designs: It's Spring. You will receive two different options for the bowl sides. I showed this design to my Yahoo group and we all worked on how the background should look. I decided to do mine all in white so you could see the designs easily here on the web page, but I've included some of their suggestions at the bottom of this page. You get an additional bowl side that has stops for the background, the snow and the satin border on top so you can design your own color scheme.

  • The Holiday season for me has always been full of bright colors. I wanted to create a bowl that captures these colors but in a little different combination than we are used to seeing. You can of course choose other colors for the roses - perhaps pink or yellow for a completely different look. This bowl is quite firm and would be perfect holding pine cones and some Holiday potpourri.

  • A sophisticated bowl of poinsettias to welcome the Holiday season. The three bowl side designs are basically the same design but the flowers have different numbers of color changes. The red uses four shades, the pink three shades and the white flower has two shades. In this way you can decide how dramatic you want your flowers! I chose very similar shades for a soft look as I wanted the angles of the stitches to provide the definition of the petals, but by choosing darker and lighter shades than I did you can make the petals more distinctive and bright. If you want to minimize time changing colors and bobbins, you could make all white sides, but use two shades of red or pink for the other colored flowers. Even though these are quite detailed designs you will find few jumps for easy stitching.

These designs are my own artwork with photographs as guides.

  • I've had two pairs of Cardinals visiting my bird feeders for the last few weeks and I couldn't resist capturing them for this bowl and the matching designs, Cardinals and Friends. One of the male cardinals is so funny as he announces himself from the trees for a good 20 minutes before he finally comes down to eat. And then he keeps chirping the whole time he is there. I wonder sometimes how he gets enough to eat!

  • The Cornucopia speaks to us of Autumn and eventually the Thanksgiving Holiday. I've always loved Fall colors and there will be two or three more sets with this theme. The doily alone could have many uses during this upcoming Fall Season. I will also be announcing special Club credit offers when I introduce the other sets. The small bowl is 5.5 inches in diameter, the medium is 9.2 inches and the large is 11 inches in diameter. Some of these designs can also be used without the background for regular designs - just skip the first color. The ones this would work well for are the doily petal, the panel with the Chickadee, the panel next to the Chickadee with the branch on top and the bowl bottom.

This set is my own artwork using several copyright free images and even leaves I had Rick pick from our trees for inspiration.

Though her photos didn't show the Waterlilies in bloom, I added the yellow variety she said is common there plus some fragrant waterlilies that also bloom in Alaska. You can also make an all water lily bowl if you like.

  • I was driving home through the shopping mall parking lot that borders our apartment building and saw this small island garden along one side of the lot. The colors really attracted me and looked so beautiful in the sea of asphalt. When I arrived home, I dragged Rick and his camera to take some pictures for me. I think it was the silver of the dusty miller against the purple petunias and hot pink single geraniums were what made the planting so effective. This bowl is quite large. The Small Bowl is 9.4 inches across, the Medium is 11 inches and the large is 13 inches. The Small doily is 13.6 inches across, the Medium is 16 inches and the Large is 19 inches. You will receive full instructions for assembly with pictures. I'm going to use mine as a planter. I think it would also make a great center piece for a summer party with a vase of fresh flowers.

  • This bowl gives you a chance to use bright bold colors. I have used some metallic thread to give it even more sparkle. If you want, you could also add some hot fix crystal *bubbles*. The color charts are done with regular embroidery thread colors, but I have included a list of the metallic thread I've used in the instructions. Having 8 sides, this is a large bowl - the small is 7.3 inches across, the medium is 12 inches and the large is 14.4 inches. The design continues around the bowl and I have used invisible thread to hide the seams.

  • You will find this set very versatile. It makes a very elegant lace bowl without the flowers, or you can add the dogwood flowers and leaves included. You can also add other three dimensional flowers. The smallest size of the Lace Sculpture - Orchid is a perfect size. The Fun Flowers set would also be appropriate. You can stitch a small design of your own in the oval center of the bowl side and doily - perhaps a flower, butterfly or initial. In addition to the small dogwood for the bowl, you will receive a larger sculpture size dogwood. I stitched mine and then attached it to a twig to give a realistic appearance. This would look pretty sitting on the doily as shown, or laid on the doily of the plain bowl and doily for decoration. If using the bowl as a centerpiece, several sculptured dogwoods would look nice scattered on the table. I used metallic thread to stitch the centers. You could also add beads or crystals to the centers of the flowers to add more sparkle. My inspiration for this bowl came from remembering the doilies I had made many years ago that had three dimensional flowers. There are now two companion sets: Lace Sculpture - Dogwood and Watercolor Dogwood.

  • I was browsing through some pictures of caladiums I had planted in pots for my patio several years ago and had to make designs of them. There is a companion set of regular designs, Caladiums. Since caladiums come in so many variations of greens, reds and pinks you can try all different combinations for these designs. You will also receive 3 different free standing leaves that you can use to strew around your bowl as I did below, or to attach to favors, napkin rings, or placemats. You can also attach one or two to the bowl itself for a 3D effect. Another use would be to attach the leaves to wire stems and create a matching bouquet. Or use one leaf in a small vase with a bow for a favor. The leaves are quite firm and curl naturally as they dry for a realistic effect. I used Madeira super Twist on one of the pinks when stitching these samples to add a little sparkle.

  • My Yahoo group keeps me busy! Many of them have asked for Wisteria Designs. This bowl and it's complementary design set, Watercolor Wisteria, are the result. I drew these designs mostly from the memory of a favorite Wisteria tree I had many years ago. There are three different bowl sides for you to mix and match. I assembled mine to show the flowers first in bloom and then the leaves gradually unfolding as I remembered happening every spring. To simulate the sparkle of the dew on the blossoms I added optional 16ss Crystal AB hot fix crystals.

  • I started this bowl for the Fourth of July, but showing our patriotism and support for our troops does not have to wait for a special day. The flag and eagle designs can be used for matching table settings. The bronze effect is achieved by using only two colors and though metallic thread would be nice, I used just regular embroidery thread in these samples.

  • I call this bowl *Magical* because it had it's beginnings in the Magical Ladies design set. I had drawn a table with a crystal ball for that set and really liked the look of the table legs and crystal ball. One night while watching River Dance on the DVD I played around with them and this bowl came to be during that show. I think the crystal ball now has more the look of the sun and moon and it might have just a bit of Celtic influence from watching the great Celtic dancers. The sections of the bowl stitch quite firm and it stands up very well after rinsing. This bowl coordinates with the Magical Designs set.

  • This Orchid bowl coordinates with our Watercolor Orchid designs. Though I chose Hot Pink to stitch my orchids, if you scroll down you can see some other color possibilities. You can stitch the orchids in shades as shown in the bowl or do them all one color as shown in the yellow and white color samples. You could even make different colored orchids on different panels.

  • Roses are always in good taste. This bowl would be the perfect gift for Birthdays, Mothers Day - any Holiday. The roses are done in two shades of apricot so it is easy to change the color to create any color roses you want - just pick two shades of another color. They can also be done in all one color as the stitches will create the shaded effect only slightly less distinct then the sample below. This bowl coordinates with the Watercolor Roses design set. The sample shown is the medium size bowl and measures 8.5 inches in diameter.

  • Freestanding lace designs you can use to create all kinds of boxes and vase covers. The designs for the box and vase are interchangeable so you can combine them to make different sizes and with and without designs. For example, I created the Black Vase by using the Box Bottom and the Vase side, stacking them on top of each other. The yellow box shows how you can make a different size and shape box. You could also make a large square box by just using more bottom and side pieces. Your vase can be as tall as you want by adding more sides. In addition, these designs could be used to create place mats, doilies, table runners, purses, anything that can be made by putting squares together. You get full instructions with pictures on how to create many variations and I'm sure you will come up with more ideas! You also get instructions to easily create nice box inserts to cradle that special gift.
To complete the *look* you can fill your Iris Vase with Freestanding Lace Sculpture Irises. (The irises shown are not included in this set)

  • Loving sparkly things as much as I do it was only a matter of time before I made a bowl using the great new hot fix crystals. This bowl and doily set would be great for weddings and anniversaries. Using the multicolored version you could match the colors to those of the wedding party. Or stitch it in gold or silver thread - with crystals, pearls or just as is. The design is complete without the crystals so you can use it for many occasions. I think it would also be a great Mother's day present done in your Mom's favorite color with pearls or crystals.

  • Lotus flowers bring the Orient to mind. Done with a black border as illustrated this bowl and doily set would be at home in any Oriental setting. But experiment with all white borders and pastel flowers and the look will be totally different and can be used in any decor. The Doily can be used as a placemat with matching stemware skirt and napkin ring. I have used metallic gold thread to highlight the flowers and leaves but this would look equally well with a coordinating gold color thread. You will receive full instructions to create the Bowl, Doily, Stemware skirt and napkin ring. The companion designs are Oriental Flowers

  • Many of you have asked for Bowls that would be appropriate to give the guys in your life. What better than a Fishin' Hole to adorn his den? The bowl shows the lake and sky and of course the doily is the water underneath the surface. I used some metallic thread in the fish for fun. I used a new optional technique to make the edges and seams of this bowl stronger than usual so the bowl will keep it's shape better and the doily will lie flatter. You will get instructions for this technique along with the designs.

  • Audrey, one of my customers, sent me a CD of the most beautiful daylilies! They just had to be made into designs. I have emphasized the flowers as they are so beautiful. There was actually a bee on one of the flowers in the photos. You can do this bowl in many ways using one or all of the side variations and using different colors. Daylilies are such fun because they come in so many colors. I have stitched the small bowl below in a totally different color scheme and you can see how different it can look. There is also a matching set of Daylily designs.

  • Elegant Lace is appropriate for any time of year. The two color version allows you to adapt to the season. For example a bright yellow background will make this bowl at home on your Easter Table or bright red flowers on a white or blue background can grace your Fourth of July festivities. And of course all white can be used any time or any place! There is a matching set of tablecloths and place mats and individual lace designs available too.

  • Chantal calls herself *the stained glass fairy*. I have to totally agree. She does magical things with pattern and color. Chantal has agreed to allow me to digitize her work and this is the first of many more to come. She has so many great patterns I have a hard time choosing which to do next! Please be sure to visit her site. Her patterns can be used for so many crafts. (Link below with Design info). You can see another set of regular designs made with this pattern, Stained Glass Berries.
Please note: The lampshade is made by NOT using the bottom design. Use caution and use only a low wattage bulb. I put mine on a purchased wire frame

  • Palm Tree Decor is becoming very popular! BFC's version has lots of variations. You can use just the palm panels for your bowl or add one with a bright red hibiscus as I did below. The doily also gives you lots of choices with three different squares. You can see some ideas lower on this page. These squares could also be used for a square or rectangular box - with or without the scalloped edge decoration. And to decorate matching items, you receive two regular designs of a palm and a Hibiscus. The background of these bowl and doily designs looks very similar to a rattan mat. Be sure to see the matching set of regular designs, Tropical Palms.

  • Though only 4 basic designs, the possibilities are endless! You can use the squares as bowl bottoms to create all sizes of square and rectangular bowls. Or, following the instructions included, use a fabric bottom as I did in the 6 sided bowl below. You receive templates to make 5 and 6 sided bottoms in all three sizes. The squares can be combined in all different combinations to create mats. You could start with 4 plain squares in the middle and put a border of flowers. Or alternate them as I have done in the sample. Make squares or long rectangles to use as table runners. You can also add your own designs to the plain petals and squares. To give you an idea of size, the 6 sided sample below is 9 inches in diameter and 5 inches high (I used the medium sized designs) The white and red basket is 6 1/2 inches across and 3 inches high. I used the small size designs for this. See the coordinating designs, Amaryllis.

  • This bowl is the result of the great folks on my Yahoo group. So many asked for a lilac bowl I couldn't resist. They also helped in the process of deciding how the final bowl would look. The flowers are made with 4 shades of purple. It will be easy to change the color of your lilacs by choosing the same number of shades of a different color. You can see some color options in the coordinating set, Lilacs. I also recently saw a yellow lilac bush in a gardening catalog!

  • Terry, one of my customers from Alaska, sent me great photos she took at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. The doily represents the desert surrounding the launch site of the balloons. This would make a great bowl for a child's room or to give with a gift or stuffed animal tucked inside. Or for the child in all us, to brighten up our sewing rooms.

  • Much of Oriental Art is about balance. Fred has chosen the symbols for Thankfulness and Gratitude along with the circle to represent this balance. In Fred's words, "A simple gesture of recognition, that often goes unnoticed, liberates and opens the conscious to receptivity. It allows the circle to complete its course and begin again." This bowl has a totally different construction as you can see. It is quite easy to put together and you get full instructions complete with pictures. This unique bowl opens up a lot of possibilities for types of bowls. There are also many possible uses for the designs in this bowl. The circular designs would make great appliqués for a jacket or bag. Or several could be stitched and then tacked together to make a mat or table runner. The plain circles can be used to add other designs for a one of a kind doily. The top bowl in the photos is the medium size and the green and gold is the small size bowl done with gold metallic thread. Different colors can totally change the look of these bowls and doilies, as you can see from the samples shown with the designs.

  • Tulips are a great adornment to an Easter table or as a gift on Mother's Day. These tulips are done in a sheer, shaded style to remind us of a watercolor painting. You receive two motif designs that can be used as coasters or combined to create table runners, place mats or even spring handbags! You just stitch as many as you need and sew them together. You can see some ideas at the bottom of this page. I can also see them as the front of a fun vest to wear on the first day of Spring. All designs come in three sizes. For coordinating designs see *Watercolor Tulips* These designs are completely freestanding and are stitched on water soluble stabilizer.

  • This bowl coordinates with some of the designs in the Summer Garden Revisited Set. The cats and Birdbath are based on artwork by Judy Nixon. Another coordinating set is the new Scene Makers - In the Park. By using many of these designs, you could create a tablecloth or runner to go underneath your new bowl. They would also make cute curtains, towels or other items used where your bowl will be displayed. The bowl stitches quite easily as it is created with layers of sheer stitching. It is a very firm bowl and feels almost like fabric when done. This bowl is stitched on water soluble stabilizer and is completely freestanding.

  • Kokopelli is the first in a series of Scenic bowls. Our scenic bowls will either tell a story or depict a landscape. Here is Kokopelli - a magical character over 3000 years old. He has been known as trickster, fertility God, the loving spirit of the Earth and Humanity. Playing his flute he has also been known as the symbol of happiness and joy. My favorite description of Kokopelli is bringing Spring out of Winter. He comes and plays his flute for us, the sun comes out, the snow melts, and all things grow again. I cannot help but smile when seeing this little character playing his flute with his bag of seeds on his back.
