Western (US)

From a time not too long ago and very often romantized but in reality a tough and "wild" period in US history- nonetheless any lover of the old west would appreciate these designs on garments, lap robes, done as pictures or on a jacket or shirt.

A fun bag with a large pocket on the back and a recessed zipper that opens really wide. This is basically the same bag as the Hummingbird and Hibiscus Handbag. You can stitch your designs on different fabrics as shown or choose a favorite color and fabric for the whole bag. I experimented with Kraftex - a paper that can be sewn, washed and dried, for the decorative strips. It is so easy to work with! You receive full instructions and patterns for the bag including how to use the Kraftex or fabric for the trim. Sizes of Bag: Medium 13” x 11", Large 15.5” x 13”, Jumbo 18” x 15.5".

The Lone Cypress at Pebble Beach in Monterey California is thought to be the most photographed tree. Thought to be over 250 years old and scarred by fire it continues to stand proud. I created the tree with the sun starting to come down but I also include color conversions if you want to make it without the sunlight. The size of just the embroidery is Medium 13” wide x 13” high, Large Size 15.3” wide x 15.3” high, Jumbo Size 18.3” wide x 18.3” high. Instructions included to easily stitch your project.

Perfect designs to combine with bright colored fabrics for a quilt! Or use them on clothing - the border of a shawl, the end of a scarf, a row going down the front of a jacket or pockets to add a splash of color. They can also be used on linens. Make a table runner, border a tablecloth or put some down the side of a place mat. These designs are very impressive!

This is the second in our series and captures the dramatic colors the sun can create in the West. These windows can be used as pictures, or as I plan, a quilt.
You can add bias tape on the seams to make this a *real window*. I've also included a basting stitch at the beginning of each design if you want to stitch them on one piece of fabric. The medium set of designs will make a picture (without any borders added) 19.5" x 13.5 "; the large, 23.2 "x 16.2 "; and the Jumbo, 30.0 " x 20.2".

Perhaps because I live in the East, this Series really appeals to me. I hope to include scenes with the unique colors that we don't see here. These windows can be used as pictures, or as I plan, a quilt.

A bright picture to bring a bit of the West to your home. Great as a picture - or paired with Set II as a grouping. These designs would also be great centerpieces in a Western Quilt. The link to the companion to this set is below.
The small size is 7.8 x 11.7 inches, the medium is 9.8 x 14.7 inches, and the large is 11.6 x 17.4 inches.6 Designs each in 3 Sizes SML Check Sizes

These designs can of course be used in Western style quilts, but I can see many other uses. for example, stitch one or more of the cowboys and cows going across the back of a denim shirt. Try them with a dark gold thread on dark blue denim. It will give a more subtle look that many men prefer for embroidery. Or try dark blue thread on a light blue denim. Sometimes the more subtle embroideries can be even more impressive than the dramatic ones. The embroidery seems to become a part of the fabric. The designs can be grouped for pictures, strung together to make table runners, added to towels or other linens, or just one accenting the front of a blouse. These designs have no jumps except for two designs that have jumps on the facial features.

There are few natural wonders that can surpass the Grand Canyon. Fred has chosen a section where you can easily see the river that started it all. The medium size will be approximately 15x15 inches upon completion and the large will be 18x18 inches.

I've had a lot of requests for Southwestern and Native American Quiltables. This is the first and if it is popular, I plan to do more. I have made the frame below to use with my upcoming Stained Glass - Native American Farewell set that will start on Pre Pay this coming Friday. I had hoped to get it ready to start today but didn't quite make it:) To make the frame, I first stitched the squares together using the outer box outline on the designs. (This box is a different color so you can skip it if you don't need it). Next I added strips of cotton flannel which almost has a suede look in person. I then placed a piece of fabric face down on top along with some batting and stitched around the edges. Then I turned the piece inside out and stitched in the ditch along the seam lines. When my picture is done, I will lay it on top with piece of fabric underneath and satin stitch it in place.

Kokopelli is the first in a series of Scenic bowls. Our scenic bowls will either tell a story or depict a landscape. Here is Kokopelli - a magical character over 3000 years old. He has been known as trickster, fertility God, the loving spirit of the Earth and Humanity. Playing his flute he has also been known as the symbol of happiness and joy. My favorite description of Kokopelli is bringing Spring out of Winter. He comes and plays his flute for us, the sun comes out, the snow melts, and all things grow again. I cannot help but smile when seeing this little character playing his flute with his bag of seeds on his back.

These designs can be used individually, or combined to create many scenes. You might want to use some of them with other designs you have to add interest. If you scroll down to the bottom you will see an example of combining these designs with one of the Flowering Cactus and Native American women.
