In March of 2010 I came across Ching Chou's Artwork on eBay. I was fascinated! I love Fantasy, but what really attracted me to her work was her incredible use of color. It is very difficult to use so many bright colors without the art looking harsh. I love to just look at her art.
Ching-Chou Kuik was born in 1979 at Pantai Remis, Perak, Malaysia . She lived in Malaysia, and moved to Taiwan at age of 19,where she earned her Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (painting). While in Taipei, Ching-Chou enjoyed being an art teacher for young children from age three to twelve. The originality of the youngsters' pieces inspires her and brings enthusiasm and creativity to her works.
I met Ching Chou when she was living in Seattle, but she has returned to Taiwan with her husband and son and continued her Art classes for young children.

I love the paintings Ching Chou does that lend themselves to Stained Glass! These are so easy to stitch and put together. You can use bold bright colors as I did (I included several neon colors) or soften the colors for a pastel look. Full instructions included. I used some #46 White Rainbow Embroidery Glitter to add a little sparkle.

This beautiful lady is made of 4 designs and you get full instructions for putting it together. The four accent designs can be used on other projects or perhaps a pillow or combined with the picture on a quilt. In addition to the 8 designs, all purchasers will receive the picture as one design in 4 sizes. This is supplied in DST format. I experimented using Embroidery Glitter on this picture. I fused a piece big enough for the whole picture to a piece of white cotton fabric and stitched the design. It came out great and really sparkles! It also stitched beautifully. Use as a picture, pillow or on a shirt.

What better combination than Ching Chou’s Fantasy ladies and Peacocks? This set includes both Fairies and Dryads. Dryads are wood nymphs that protect the trees. Each Dryad has her own tree to guard and take care of. They punish anything or anyone that harms the tree. But I know some people don’t care for the *pointy ears* of the Dryads so I have included alternate designs for these without the pointy ears and long fingers. I stitched my sample (the medium size) on heavy white satin so it has an iridescence as the light changes. The second sample (using the 4x4 size) was done with the same thread but on the blue fabric used for the border. I also stitched just the 9 squares in the upper right. In addition to a picture, this Peacock would make a gorgeous center of a quilt. You could stitch him on water soluble stabilizer to keep the designs soft. QIH/Reg Stained Glass-Fantasy Phoenix is a companion design.
