You may have been watching the progress of our Spoonbill on our Coming Soon page. I've appreciated your comments and have included as many as possible.
The number of stitches in Commercial size designs is always daunting! Though well worth it, this set allows you to buy just the *Main Characters* so you can use fabric for your background. You can see my two examples using Stonehenge fabric.

THE SEAGULLS consists of 5 design sets. They are based on two large pictures as illustrated below. This is the latest version of these designs. I know many of you like to make your own arrangements for your designs and might have one with some components from our two Seagull Beachscapes! Since these come in 3 sizes, you can also use different sizes to add more interest to a design or landscape.

I used one complete block with border in the Medium size to create a table mat. (instructions included). But you can make all the way up to a full quilt! Designs can be stitched asa regular design and then zig zagged together, or use the bonus set of designs to make them Quilt in the Hoop (QIH)!

Jelly fish have almost infinite colors and forms. Add these bright beauties to wake up any doldrums in your clothing or decorations :) They would make wonderful pillows for a sunroom, or a throw on a couch, or on your favorite shirt or jacket!
I used two metallic colors - ME-074 Aqua Blue and ME-059 Bright Fuschia to add some sparkle. Neon colors are also great for these designs.

The only jumps are between the candlewick sections. They stitch quickly and are appropriate for regular poly or rayon thread, and also metallic or variegated. In addition to quilts, think of linens, lingerie, blouses or dresses. These would also be pretty done in tone on tone colors.

Siamese Fighting Fish have global popularity as pets: They are among the most widely available aquarium fish in the world, due to their varied and vibrant colour, and relatively low maintenance.They come in a myriad of gorgeous colors and are fun to watch. But you can't put two males or two females together or there will be fighting (unless it's a huge tank)

The Octopus has 9 brains and is considered extremely intelligent. So, I can easily see them using gears and levers to enhance their lives. They are often considered the mascot of Steampunk. Their heads and strange eyes look like helmets, they use water much as a steam engine, in Jules Verne's classic the Nautilus fought several huge Octopuses, the Octopus is very inventive - often collecting coconut shells to build its shelter, and they were a symbol of the railroads and industrial revolution.

Our beautiful mermaid is designed to be stitched on a dark fabric. I used black Dupioni silk, but you can also use a very dark blue, a dark green, or a batik of blues or greens as long as there aren't real defined elements. Only 6 designs to easily line up (there is lee way built in) or if you have a large hoop try the Commercial Size. Instructions included.

Ernest Haeckel was a German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, professor, marine biologist, and artist who discovered, described and named thousands of new species, mapped a genealogical tree relating all life forms, and coined many terms in biology, including anthropogeny, ecology, phylum, phylogeny, and Protista. A really unbelievable life of accomplishment! In addition to quilts these designs will work great on an art quilt or any projects where you want an *ocean* flavor.

There are two complete flamingo designs with their own flowers and foliage. They are designed to make the fronts on a vest or neckline as our other two Folk Art Clothing sets: BFC1669 Dragon Dreams and BFC1671 The Hummingbird in the Garden. But you also receive a design you can use with the two *side* designs to create a complete design the back of a jacket or vest and or pillow! And of course you can use your designs to create your own arrangements. For those of you that aren’t into Flamingos, a heron design is included you can use instead!
The Flamingos and their flower garden are created with a stitch similar to a folk style hand embroidery. Each design for the side panels has alignment lines and included you will find full instructions to easily put your designs together. Because of the nature of the designs, there is a lot of leeway in lining these up. I’ve also included both left and right versions of the designs to make it easier to embroider them on a vest or similar item. And finally there is a commercial size for both Flamingos: 6.2” x 11.5” and 6” x 10.7””The commercial designs are supplied in both left and right versions. There are some smaller extra designs you can use for pockets, filling in a neckline, etc.

My inspiration for this set is all the fun embellishments we've been adding to BFC Stash. And of course many of you must know by now I love Under the Water scenes. These designs can be stitched with or without Embroidery glitter. They are nice and lacy without the glitter! You can also use Angelina Film. Full instructions for making the wall hanging as shown (or with a straight border) along with instructions for applying all the embellishments are included. You also receive a full size template to help you place your designs -or make your own arrangement! The areas for the coral reef are actually three dimensional - extra batting providing the higher levels. A lot of the techniques you learn with this set can be used so many different ways on other projects. DIMENSIONS: 22" x 32" All designs can be stitched in a 5x7 hoop.

The Vaquita is one of 6 species of Porpoise. It is often called the Gulf of California Porpoise. They are various shades of gray and the smallest known cetacean (cetaceans include whales, dolphins and porpoises). They live about 20 years and are very shy and timid. They are hard to spot in the wild. The Vaquita, the world’s most rare marine mammal is on the verge of extinction. More than half the population has been lost in the last three years due to illegal fishing in the Mexico’s part of the Gulf of California. I have had a lot of requests for Sea Turtles. I used an underwater photograph to create these designs and stayed as true as possible to the colors and relative sizes. Since Coral comes in so many colors you can feel free to change the colors and emphasize your favorites. You can also add some various colored crystals among the coral to add some bling.

Seahorses and Sea Dragons are fascinating! They come in so many shapes and colors. These little guys might be a little larger than life, but that is their fantasy. Twenty four designs in all to use as individual designs or make pictures or pillows. Instructions included for the wall hanging shown. Add lots of embellishments - crystals, beads, gem stone chips, shells or fibers! The wall hanging below used the medium size designs and the finished size without sashing is 29" x 18". When is a bag not a bag? When it's two, three or more bags! Make an inner bag and make as many outer bags as you wish. Even the inner bag can be used alone. Solve the problem of having to move everything in your purse each time you want a different look. These would also be great to sell. Sell a customer one bag set and several outer bags to go with it. You get instructions, patterns, pattern layouts and design templates. Also ideas on how to embellish your bag.

I took these designs from oriental paintings. I was fascinated by how many of these paintings depicted fish or other aquatic life with flowers! They add a bit a fantasy to the designs and I think make a good balance to the more geometric scales and details of the fish. Though taken from oriental paintings, these fish by themselves don't necessarily have to be oriental. It was the backgrounds of the paintings that had the more oriental look.
With all the detail in these designs, they can easily be combined with and will balance a lot of embellishment! On the pillow below, after stitching the designs on Silk Dupioni fabric, I added fibers, beads and shells. I used a fabric glue and it went together quite quickly! Any of the fish would look great on a tote for instance, with a whole sea bottom made of fibers, beads, crystals, buttons, and shells.

There are 40 species of Dolphins ranging in size from 4 feet long to 30 feet (The Orca)! The bottlenose dolphin is the most popular and is usually 6 to 13 feet in length. An interesting fact is the females tend to live about 40 years and the males only about 30. There have been reports of dolphins raising an injured diver to the surface, a behavior they also do to injured members of their species. A dramatic report form New Zealand involved a group of divers being protected by being surrounded by dolphins which prevented a nearby Great White Shark from attacking them. The dolphins remained surrounding the divers until they reached shore.
This set is put together differently than our other Windows sets - no visible seams! You can see that some sections of the designs have an outline that follows the black leading so when you stitch them together, the seam doesn't show. These designs can also be stitched on organza for a true *Stained Glass Window*.
The medium size shown below is 18" x 9.7" (designs only - not including fabric borders and the large size is 21.2" x 11.4". You receive full instructions for creating your Stained Glass project. This is a great beginner project as it is easier to put together than our more traditional window sets, but makes a very impressive finished piece. Orcas are the largest member of the oceanic dolphin family, Delphinidae. They are also the most widely distributed mammal next to humans. Though they usually prefer cold waters, they can be found in tropical waters also. They have even been found venturing into fresh water! One went 110 miles up the Columbia River to eat fish! Imagine seeing that while you're out fishing. Orcas are extremely intelligent and said to have culture as they use dialects and learned behavior is passed between generations. Many say this culture is rivaled only by humans.

I have created this picture from photos sent to me by Lisa, one of our customers. Her Mother took them at some Japanese gardens. There are many more Koi of different colors swimming in the pond. I have played a little with perspective so we can see both the large fish deeper in the pond and the far shore.

This bowl gives you a chance to use bright bold colors. I have used some metallic thread to give it even more sparkle. If you want, you could also add some hot fix crystal *bubbles*. The color charts are done with regular embroidery thread colors, but I have included a list of the metallic thread I've used in the instructions. Having 8 sides, this is a large bowl - the small is 7.3 inches across, the medium is 12 inches and the large is 14.4 inches. The design continues around the bowl and I have used invisible thread to hide the seams.

You have three different scenes in this set - sky with birds and trees, a pond or lake with lots of vegetation and wildlife and an underwater scene. Or combine them all together as below to create the old fishing hole.
I have created the scene below from the fish's point of view - as you see the underwater designs are on a larger scale and they get smaller as you go up. If you get the complete set you can reverse this.
Be sure to check the sizes as many of the large designs will also fit a 5x7 hoop. You can make wall hangings, great shirt backs, a lap quilt or use these designs individually to accent any item. You could create a continuous border with the foliage designs to create great curtains for a den -adding a few flying ducks above and inserting the frog, duck and turtle in between. Experiment with colors on these designs as you can totally change the look. You could even use the grasses to adorn a seaside scene- just change the darker brown dirt with a pale sand color.
