BFC1620 Ernst Haeckel's Orchids
Ernst Haeckel, born in 1934 in Potsdam, was a German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, professor, marine biologist, and artist who discovered, described and named thousands of new species. He published 42 major works along with many other smaller treatises. Many had wonderful plates of his art. I am fascinated with his prints - they are realistic, but also have an almost surreal feel to them. And his colors are wonderful. These Orchids come from his print Orchidae.
The first three orchids each have two versions. One is fully stitched and the second is designed for applique using either fabric, Angelina or Embroidery glitter.
