The ancestry of the Tadjik people goes back 4000 years. This ethnic group has lived in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzebekistan, Iran, Pakistan and China, along the *Silk Road*. Originally influenced by Persian arts, you can see their influence in the textile work of many countries. They have a rich cultural history of textile ornament. Their embroideries are taken from flowers and vegetation and is always very decorative. There are many examples of large embroideries encompassing an entire piece of fabric. The colors are clear and rich. I have stitched these in some of the traditional colors but these designs lend themselves to any color scheme - even tone on tone. Though they can be used alone, the first three rows of designs are created to be used as large borders. The designs have guidelines to help you line up the designs. (Please note there is a difference in the second design in the 4x4 size to allow for a larger size for the the first and third designs. ) These designs are very appropriate for clothing, linens, pillow, wall hangings and quilts.
