Elemental and concise yet far more expressive and communicative than language symbols have been used in every culture in the world. Their ability to simplify and compress complex and abstract ideas or emotions into a penetrable concise image that once perceived reemerges and illuminates our understanding (blossoms into a flower within). In other words the thoughts behind the symbol become more comprehensible. It is this ability that has attracted man throughout history in his to desire to express and understand the world around him. For example the Kokopelli figure is one of the first symbolic figures to appear in the Americas. He is generally considered as a symbol of fertility carrying his bag of seeds and playing his flute throughout his travels. He has been called a Trickster. Another symbol, the Raven is also a trickster who stole the moon and placed it in the sky. The eagle is often considered the protector and carrier of spirits...Fred
