BFC0555 Byzantine Quilting Set
These designs are taken from a Victorian catalog (now copyright free) of Tile designs. However, the patterns go back to a Byzantine era carpet. The tiles were designed to repeat the center section and have the scrolled border go around the outer edge - perfect for a quilt! Or you can create large squares as I did below and stitch these together directly or with sashing between them. Experiment with different colored fabrics and you will see a whole new design appear. The tiles were originally done in gold, black and burgundy. I can see a coverlet stitched on black and burgundy fabric with gold metallic thread.
You get two versions - one you can stitch as regular designs on fabric (my blue and white sample) and then stitch the squares together as you like and also a *Quilt in the Hoop version* (the yellow and blue sample) which creates completed, quilted squares to zig zag together.
The blocks as shown below will be 15.5x15.5 for the small size, 19.5x19.5 for the medium size and 23x23 for the large size.

Each design description above will state the sizes the set comes in: S, M, L, J standing for Small, Medium, Large and Jumbo. These will be written SML, meaning Small, Medium and Large, or perhaps MLJ, meaning Medium Large and Jumbo, or even SMLJ meaning the set comes in all four hoop sizes
