I have always loved these cranes, but wasn't sure where they were from until I started looking last week. I found they are indigenous to Southern Africa and especially South Africa, mainly in the wetlands area. (hence the wetlands design to use as a background for your cranes) So I read a little more and discovered all the gorgeous flowers that grow in South Africa. So many to choose from! One site alone listed over 2000 species. I chose the King Protea because it is the National Flower of South Africa and the Disa Uniflora because we all love orchids, and of course many of us are familiar here with the *African Daisy* (Barberton Daisy). You will also receive a split version of the tall crane so you can make him large as I did on the vest.
These designs are appropriate for clothing. You will receive instructions on how I made the pockets on the vest below and also templates to create the arrangement on the back. They can also be used for pictures, pillows or the centerpiece of a quilt.

Mark Hughes and I have signed a licensing agreement so I can create designs from his wonderful wildlife photographs. Victoria is the first. She lives at the Wildlife Heritage Foundation, Kent, UK and has the most fantastic eyes!

Not quite a green man, but I fell in love with this lady when I saw her is Sally's Gallery with her Green Men. And she does fit the qualifications by having foliage and flowers sprouting from her hair. You will receive instructions for stitching her with a filled face as in the wall hanging below and also without the filled stitches so you can stitch her on a wood grain fabric.

Green Men are sculptures, paintings or other renderings surrounded by or made from leaves. Though seen around the world, they are frequently seen as architectural features on Churches dating back to the 11th century. They signify rebirth. This is the second in our series.
Sally King has created several delightful green men using pyrography and painting. You can see this one and the others on her web site. Sally allows the designs created from her artwork to be used on items for sale as long as credit is given to her for the artwork and BFC for the designs. Artwork © Sally King All Rights Reserved.
You can use these designs as I have as one large picture, or just choose some of the designs to make a smaller finished design. There are extra designs that can be used to expand the picture.

The Formosan Magpie is now called The Taiwan magpie and was recently voted to be the national bird of Taiwan. It has also reached status as a rare and valuable species under Taiwan’s Cultural Heritage Preservation Act. They are a member of the crow family and are not afraid of humans. They often fly in groups of 5 or 6 together. These designs for a Formosan Magpie are designed to be stitched on one piece of fabric. He would make a dramatic jacket or shirt back in addition to a picture. A commercial size of 13.9”X10.5” in DST is included with the complete set.

I think this is the easiest and quickest bag I have ever made. There is only one pattern piece plus some squares if you want pockets. You get versions of the designs that are completely embroidery and those that allow you space for embellishments. Regardless of the size you buy, you will get three patterns: Small, medium and large. There are designs for every individual element so you can make your own arrangement, designs with alignment lines to follow the templates provided and also two commercial sizes - Small and Medium for large Hoop Machines. This bag is constructed exactly like our Wild Roses Handbag, just the shape of the front and back is different. It has a zipper that opens wide and a lining with lots of pockets. You receive full instructions on aligning your designs and patterns for making your Handbag. You can also make a beautiful picture with the Magnolias or put them on a pillow.

Many love big cats, but not many can ignore the appeal of a Big Cat's Kitten. We stitched him on black, but you could also use a Green Batik or even a light blue as if he's against the sky at the top of an old tree. I have had a lot of requests for Sea Turtles. I used an underwater photograph to create these designs and stayed as true as possible to the colors and relative sizes. Since Coral comes in so many colors you can feel free to change the colors and emphasize your favorites. You can also add some various colored crystals among the coral to add some bling.

The famous Japanese Ukiyo-e artist Hokusai painted this Phoenix on the ceiling of the Ganshoin Temple when he was 86 years old! It is recommended that the best way to view the painting is by lying on the floor:) The temple is surrounded by gardens – even a pond full of frogs. You can stitch your Phoenix two ways – with the black design areas fully stitched or as I did for the sample designs (shown on white fabric). Or eliminate the first color stop on each design and stitch on black fabric as I did for the wall hanging. You save thousands of stitches! A commercial size design is included with each set.

The Bald Eagle is truly majestic. They are 28" to 40" long, have a wingspan of 6 ft. to 7.5 ft. and weight 6 to 14 pounds. Their nests average 13 ft deep, 8.2 ft. wide and weigh 1 metric ton! There is a nest on record that weighed 3 tons. I am very happy that they are starting come back to Massachusetts. I am always watching out my window while I work and hope some day I will see one. While most Kingfishers are 7 to 8 inches long, this magnificent Belted Kingfisher is 11 to 14 inches with a wingspan up to 23 inches! He has an arrogant stance and a piercing rattle as he sits on branches or dead trees watching the water below for fish.

This beautiful lady is made of 4 designs and you get full instructions for putting it together. The four accent designs can be used on other projects or perhaps a pillow or combined with the picture on a quilt. In addition to the 8 designs, all purchasers will receive the picture as one design in 4 sizes. This is supplied in DST format. I experimented using Embroidery Glitter on this picture. I fused a piece big enough for the whole picture to a piece of white cotton fabric and stitched the design. It came out great and really sparkles! It also stitched beautifully. Use as a picture, pillow or on a shirt.
The Pale Messenger was created from the artwork of Fantasy Artist Ching Chou Kuik. We have signed a licensing agreement so I can create embroidery designs from her work. The artwork of course remains the copyrighted property of Ching Chou Kuik. She gives permission to use these designs on items for sale as long as *artwork from Ching Chou Kuik and design from BFC* is given with the items. When I saw this design it sure brought back memories! My first car was a white '65 Mustang. Not new of course, but how I loved it! (I wish I still had it LOL). Fred's beautiful rendition looks like it's driving right out of the picture. He used Blank Textiles Radiant Fabric for the background.

While most Pygmy Owls are 7 to 8 inches long with a wingspan of 15 inches! Although tiny for an owl they are quite fierce and will often go after prey several times their size! He looks like he's coming right out of his tree to see what you're looking at.

This poor Lemur couldn't take it anymore and fell asleep right where he sat! Lemurs are on the 10 top endangered species list. They are found only in Madagascar - an island off Africa. Its name comes from Roman Mythology for a word meaning ghosts or spirits due to it's slow pace.

I can picture this on the back of a denim jacket!!! For variation, replace the blue with red. The red would really look nice on Black denim. For a wall hanging, you could make a hanger of a small real tree branch and attach the hanging with cord. It would make quite a statement in a den. When I saw the artwork I used for this design I immediately thought of my cat, Bronko Billy. (you can read why under his picture below) There are 5 designs you easily line up (instructions included) to make the full design. Or use his parts to have fun with as I did on my winter vest. There will be additional sets to fill out this Gardening Quilt Collection. The main shed is sheer stitching to add texture and minimize stitch counts. The 6 designs are easy to put together and I have built in some leeway. The seams between the sections are also minimized by what stitches on the top. In addition to making a quilt this would make an adorable picture near a window facing the garden. Full instructions are included.

I had clothing in mind when I created these designs. The first 5 create a wonderful neckline for a top, dress, or even a T-Shirt. Or use the side designs down the front of a shirt or jacket. I've included enough small motifs to create your own design or add to the larger designs in the set. The Circle design would be perfect for the front of a tote or handbag. Or put it on pockets! The small motifs can also be used for collars or cuffs.
You will receive a Commercial Size design of the large motif for a neckline in DST format in addition to the individual designs both in the complete or one size sets The size is 11.21" x 9".

This dragon and his flower garden are created with a stitch similar to a folk style hand embroidery. With several shades of colors it adds a lot of shimmer. The 7 designs can be used to create a picture as shown on my vest. Each design has alignment lines and you will find full instructions included to easily put your designs together. You will also find two commercial size designs in each of the purchae options: One of just the Dragon (9.7” x 8.2”) and one with the Dragon and all of his flowers (13.6” x 11.7”).

This Hummingbird and his flower garden are created with a stitch similar to a folk style hand embroidery. With several shades of colors it adds a lot of shimmer. Because of the nature of the designs, there is a lot of leeway in lining up these designs. I’ve also included both left and right versions of the designs to make it easier to embroider them on a vest or similar item. Strongly elegant and with knowing eyes the Jaguar is the third-largest feline species after the tiger and the lion, and the largest in the Americas. This Jaguar is ideal for a framed picture and would work well in any room. Each of the sizes come with a Commercial size in DST format.

There are two complete flamingo designs with their own flowers and foliage. They are designed to make the fronts on a vest or neckline as our other two Folk Art Clothing sets: BFC1669 Dragon Dreams and BFC1671 The Hummingbird in the Garden. But you also receive a design you can use with the two *side* designs to create a complete design the back of a jacket or vest and or pillow! And of course you can use your designs to create your own arrangements. For those of you that aren’t into Flamingos, a heron design is included you can use instead!
The Flamingos and their flower garden are created with a stitch similar to a folk style hand embroidery. Each design for the side panels has alignment lines and included you will find full instructions to easily put your designs together. Because of the nature of the designs, there is a lot of leeway in lining these up. I’ve also included both left and right versions of the designs to make it easier to embroider them on a vest or similar item. And finally there is a commercial size for both Flamingos: 6.2” x 11.5” and 6” x 10.7””The commercial designs are supplied in both left and right versions. There are some smaller extra designs you can use for pockets, filling in a neckline, etc.
