  • You get a very similar assortment as shown.  All bags have the same types of beads in this picture, they just may be in different colors or shapes.  They weigh from 2-3 ounces. I have used these to make beautiful zipper pulls for Handbags.  They would also look great hanging from a mandala or other wall hanging.  And there is of course always making a simple quick necklace with a cord!  You can even buy cords complete with clasps and you just thread the bead(s) on.

Like most herding breeds, the Australian Shepherd has an inborn protective streak and can be wary of strangers. But he is also a playful and loving addition to the family.

  • Each Santa comes in three sizes, with and without the loop for hanging. They are totally Free Standing and may be stitched on water soluble stabilizer. I used two layers of Badgemaster in the samples. They may also be stitched as regular designs on fabric. When stitching the free standing versions, use the same color thread in the bobbin for reversible ornaments. Another option is to put a metallic thread in the bobbin. You can also stitch them with regular bobbin thread and then attach a felt backing with spray adhesive

  • This bowl is reminiscent of a Lotus Bowl, complete with rounded sides. It is extremely easy to put together, comes in both 5 and 6 sided versions, has a plain panel for your own designs, has no jump stitches (even if using two colors) and does not require any stiffening after washing out the stabilizer. It comes in sizes for both the 4x4 and 5x7 hoops. You will find instructions for making this bowl below. I have illustrated the small bowl using 5 sides and the larger bowl using 6 sides but you have the options on both sizes. The diameters will vary depending on the number of sides you use.

  • Victorian Santa Wreath consists of 12 basic designs. These designs can be used individually or combined into a Wreath or border. There are also some *Detail (fill in)* designs to use for small places (perhaps the corners of napkins or a small stocking) or in case you don't quite line up your Wreath as you'd like. (I always like to have a backup plan! :) They would also look great circling a Christmas tree skirt.

You will receive Master Template files in PDF format you can print out that will give you different layouts in actual size. (These will be delivered when the set is complete) You can use these to plan the location of your designs. Each design has some leeway in lining it up with designs next to it so you shouldn't have any problem combining these designs into a masterpiece! The 4x4 Wreath will be an 11 inch circle when finished. The medium size will be 18"and the large, 22"

These designs could be used as the center section of a tablecloth or to decorate a fleece throw for the couch for the Holidays. Smaller number of designs could also be used to make a small wreath.

    You will receive two versions

    How to assemble

Step One: Stitch out the bottom and sides of your bowl on water soluble stabilizer. I have used two layers of Badgemaster and Arc Rayon thread 40wt for both the top and bottom thread. If you chose the 5 sided bottom, stitch 5 sides, or 4 sides if you choose the square bottom. You can also combine plain and decorated side panels.. You might notice the stabilizer pulling away from the design while stitching the final outside border. This does not harm the design, but if you are uncomfortable with it, slide a scrap of stabilizer underneath as it stitches. Do not remove stabilizer.

Step Two: Assemble Bottom: Starting at one side of the bottom piece, and using a zig zag stitch on your machine, stitch around the edges of the bottom section, butting the bottom of the side pieces as you go. Once I had all the pieces attached I stitched one more row of zig zag stitches around the bottom piece for stability.

Step Three: Stitch sides. Starting at the junction of the bottom and the side pieces and using a zig zag stitch, start sewing the two side pieces together. Just butt the sides next to each other slowly allowing them to meet all the way to the top of the bowl as you stitch. You will see the curves beginning to take shape. When you have reached the top of the bowl, turn your work and stitch back over the seam ending at the bowl bottom. Repeat for all sides.

Step Four: Soak your bowl in water according to the instructions that came with your stabilizer. After soaking the recommended time, rinse the bowl thoroughly. This bowl is firm enough that you do not need to leave stabilizer in. (and then you won't have to worry if your bowl gets wet later on!) There will probably be a small amount left in the embroidery, but that is OK. Place on an absorbent surface, shape with fingers and allow to dry. When the bowl is completely dry, you can give the sides a light pressing. If any part of the bowl isn't quite in shape, use steam from your iron to soften it and reshape with fingers. If you are doing the large size bowl, it is better to dry upside down so the petals don't crease in middle. Put over an inverted glass or something similar.

  • With the popularity of Lace Bowls and designs with a Southwestern flavor I had to see how the two could be combined! These baskets look great as planters, but I can see them also being used to hold fruit, gifts, all kinds of things. The design compliments the *Baskets and Bowls* designs which could be used for a mat under the bowl or a towel tucked inside.

The bowl can be stitched with 6 sides or 4 sides. There are two different designs on the side pieces and they can be alternated or use just one to change the effect.

These bowls can be stitched in any size hoop. The bottom can be stitched in one, two or 4 sections depending on the size you are making and the size of your hoop.

  •

The Great Seal of the Choctaw Nation consists of an unstrung bow encompassing three Arrows and a smoking pipe-hatchet. These items are symbolic of the history and tradition of the Choctaw People.

The unstrung bow symbolized that, although peaceable by nature, they could quickly string the bow and defend themselves if provoked.

The pipe-hatchet was used while seated in solemn deliberation around the council fire.

The three arrows symbolize the three great Choctaw Chiefs - Apuckshunnubee, Pushmataha and Mosholatubbee.

Pushmataha was known as the embodiment of the nature of the Choctaw Nation. He was hailed among the People as a trial hero and statesman. He died in Washington D.C. of "a broken heart" (pneumonia) while trying to stop the passage of the Indian Removal Act. He is buried in the Congressional Cemetery.

Permission to use the Great Seal of the Choctaw Nation was kindly granted by Gregory E. Pyle, Chief of the Choctaw Nation.

  • Our Pharaoh (King Tutankhamen) would make a great companion piece to the set *Egypt by Night*. I have stitched the bowl with metallic threads but I have also tried it in regular thread and it comes out very good. You can also limit the metallic to just one of the colors if you prefer. The bowl comes in three sizes and you have your choice of a 5 or 6 sided bowl.

  • Orchids speak of romance. With a choice of 5 sizes (see the image with measurements below) you can have them anywhere. In addition to making a great addition to a coffee table, I think a group of the smaller ones would look great on an evening purse or tote bag. And the tiny one would make a great pin or hair decoration. Even those with a 4x4 hoop can stitch the sizes from 2.5 inches to 7 inches. These are totally free standing and are sewn on water soluble stabilizer. You receive full instructions with pictures to complete your orchid. I chose slightly darker shades to stitch my samples so you can see the shading. They would also look great in many other color combinations from vibrant hot pink to pale, pale lavender or all white with a little purple on the throat. Cattleya's now come in all different colors. In the smaller sizes, some of the designs are combined in one hooping to make for faster stitching.

  • Lines can be expressive. They exist everywhere. Latent in the curvature of a vase and hidden in the upward turn of a glass- in the end they define shape. Ultimately the medium of sewing is that of articulated lines. The luxury of taking a piece of charcoal and smudging it blurring the outlines just does not exist. Illusion is possible and it is something I wish to possibly explore in the future.

Always at the end of a design set I learn something and this set was no exception. This set started as an exploration of the expressive qualities of the face within my limited command of this medium. What objects could I add to enhance or detract to emphasize a particular expressive element, articulating one eye-shading another, leaving obvious structural characteristics vague etc. But it ended up with the realization that simple lines have endless expressive possibilities. It is something I hope to explore further in the future.

No matter how civilized we become, the images of animals from our Western wilderness still elicit feelings of awe and mystery. Native Americans recognized their illusive power and included them in many of their myths and artwork. Their eyes seem to be looking at a world we can only glimpse as we are connected to a world of spirituality.

These designs would be perfect for framing - they could be done in pairs or groupings. And of course their power is a welcome addition to our clothing and home decor.

  • Freestanding lace designs you can use to create all kinds of boxes and vase covers. The designs for the box and vase are interchangeable so you can combine them to make different sizes and with and without designs. For example, I created the Black Vase by using the Box Bottom and the Vase side, stacking them on top of each other. The yellow box shows how you can make a different size and shape box. You could also make a large square box by just using more bottom and side pieces. Your vase can be as tall as you want by adding more sides. In addition, these designs could be used to create place mats, doilies, table runners, purses, anything that can be made by putting squares together. You get full instructions with pictures on how to create many variations and I'm sure you will come up with more ideas! You also get instructions to easily create nice box inserts to cradle that special gift.
To complete the *look* you can fill your Iris Vase with Freestanding Lace Sculpture Irises. (The irises shown are not included in this set)

  • When I saw the first of these designs stitched out all I could think of was an oil painting. I had to stitch it myself on pieced silk for the picture below. Though these designs use a lot of colors, there are few jumps and are easy stitching. In person they look like you can reach in and pick up the fruit. In addition to making great pictures, I can also see them in a shadow box quilt wall hanging as I have illustrated further down this page. For kitchen accessories, they would be very appropriate for small appliance covers; the smaller designs could be used on curtains and towels and a wall arrangement of several pictures.

  • The process of Japanese Wood block printing involved many skills. There was first the artist who must be skilled in creating artwork specifically appropriate to be printed, then the carvers who often spent 10 years learning the craft and finally the printers who could properly align the blocks and apply ink to paper. Started in Japan as single color printing in the 8th century, it took nearly 900 years before color prints were produced. Prints often involved 15 or more carved blocks. All of the designs in this set will be taken from actual Japanese Wood block prints. The next two will be actors in very colorful costumes. Actors and the stage were a very popular subject for woodblock printing.

  • I was driving home through the shopping mall parking lot that borders our apartment building and saw this small island garden along one side of the lot. The colors really attracted me and looked so beautiful in the sea of asphalt. When I arrived home, I dragged Rick and his camera to take some pictures for me. I think it was the silver of the dusty miller against the purple petunias and hot pink single geraniums were what made the planting so effective. This bowl is quite large. The Small Bowl is 9.4 inches across, the Medium is 11 inches and the large is 13 inches. The Small doily is 13.6 inches across, the Medium is 16 inches and the Large is 19 inches. You will receive full instructions for assembly with pictures. I'm going to use mine as a planter. I think it would also make a great center piece for a summer party with a vase of fresh flowers.

PLEASE NOTE: There is no 4x4 size for this set. The Small and Medium are both for the 5x7 hoop. Be sure to check sizes before ordering.

  • Columbines are often overlooked. Yet they have a very intricate and graceful form and come in a myriad of colors making them perfect for decoration. These designs are appropriate for garments, linens, totes and quilts. The corner designs would be perfect for placemats or a table runner. In the large size, one design at the bottom of a long black skirt would make a dramatic statement. Bernice, a customer, sent me photographs from her garden of her Columbines and they soon became this set of designs. Thank you Bernice for the inspiration!
Along with your designs you will receive a customized thread conversion chart for 7 brands of thread along with color swatches to help you choose the threads for your project. These designs were stitched in Admelody thread.

These designs use some clip art and are mostly my own artwork done from photographs sent to me by Bernice.

  • Quick to stitch designs that are so versatile for Christmas projects. Combine them with other designs or even on their own for quilts or combine with Christmas Quiltable Borders as I did for the place mat. (I used the 4x4 squares) For the stocking I stitched the poinsettia design twice in metallic gold thread on red fleece. To save time on the place mat, I used fusible fleece for body on the back of my fabric and didn't need stabilizer to stitch the designs. You could also stitch them with batting and stabilizer in the hoop to have instant quilted squares.

  • These designs are perfect for quilted or regular projects around the kitchen: placemats, appliance covers, towels, curtains, aprons. They coordinate with the Lace Bowl & Doily - Apple Harvest. The outlined apples are designed for making quilted fabric to use in your projects.
Along with your designs you will receive a customized thread conversion chart for 7 brands of thread along with color swatches to help you choose the threads for your project. These designs were stitched in Admelody thread.

These designs are my own artwork with clipart for inspiration for the basket and piece of apple pie.

  • Coordinating with the Lace Bowl & Doily- Cornucopia, you can now make a large cornucopia for a Thanksgiving or Autumn tablecloth or centerpiece. The medium size cornucopia is approximately 16 inches wide. The small size is about 9.5 inches wide and the large size is 19 inches wide. Below you can see an example for making matching place mats. The free design at the bottom of this page is the perfect size for the corner of a napkin. The other designs can be used to make other accessories or to add to the tablecloth. The bowl sitting on the table below is set Lace Bowl & Doily - Cornucopia.

  • I love the colors used in Art Nouveau designs. Looking at Art Nouveau designs you will find many done in colors other than we would expect for the subject. They use a lot of shades of colors and you might find a design with only 2 or 3 main colors, but many shades of those colors. They also use a lot of peach and lime - two of my favorite colors.

I think the peacock below shows how dramatically a design can change with different colors! Done in vibrant hues he would be perfect for embellishment with crystals or beads. The center column of designs in this set are created especially for a large border, though of course they can be used by themselves also. The last bird in the set is very similar to the Art Nouveau style of ceramic tiles so popular during the period.

  • These designs can be assembled in many ways. One would be to just sew them together along the edges of the squares. Another would be to sew them together and then add a row of black satin stitches between the squares to look like stained glass. You can piece them together with black fabric as I did in my sample below. You could also use white fabric or stitches to look like a window looking out on the fantasy scene. Or sew them together and then use a decorative stitch on your machine with some sparkly thread to set off the squares. You will receive ideas for different methods of putting these designs together.

The small set of designs will make a picture (without any borders added) 12"x16", the medium will be 15"x20" and the large, 17.5"x23".

Though a different theme, this set will coordinate nicely with Stained Glass The Swan & The Tiger. I have used many of the same colors and also some of the same foliage to tie the two embroideries together

NEW ADDITIONAL DESIGN: I have had some requests to put a satin stitch border around the designs so they can be stitched together after they are completed without extra fabric. I have included a design that has just the border in each size - if desired you can load this after you stitch your square and then stitch a satin border around the square. You can do this with or without background fabric slid under the hoop. To see the design click on Check Sizes below.

  • If you've never seen a whole field of sunflowers it's a breathtaking site. Even a single flower can make us smile and feel like the sun is out. These designs can be used individually or combined to make large embroideries. For example, using the medium size the blue vase below measures 9 x 18 inches making a great jacket back or framed picture. You can create your own Van Gogh!

  • These 12 designs create a full picture when done. They can be combined in many ways. You will receive instructions for different methods of putting these designs together. You will also receive a border design you can use to stitch on top of the designs. Then you only have to zig zag the pieces together to create your picture!

The small set of designs will make a picture (without any borders added) 12"x16", the medium will be 15"x20" and the large, 17.5"x23".

This set could also be done as stained glass by adding black borders, but I thought a window theme would be very appropriate looking out over the flowers.

  •  These designs are taken from the Stained Glass - Fantasy set. I thought some of you might like to create your own background for the scene or use the designs in other ways. You could also use them to create items to go with your Stained Glass Wall Hanging - perhaps a pillow, a throw or dresser scarf. Please note that some of the 4x4 designs will come split so you can stitch a larger design. You can see these by clicking on *Check Sizes* below.

  • The Tiger was what first attracted me to these images. This is one form of embroidery from India that uses many forms from nature - animals, birds and flowers - for inspiration. There will be four sets in this series all together. The additional three sets are Elephants, Touch of India II, Cranes, Touch of India III and Pheasants, Touch of India IV.

The top picture is of a jacket back that I am making out of tan poly linen. I changed the colors to go with the outfit I am planning. I have also put the tiger eyes on one of the sleeves. The second large picture is a screen shot using the designs in the original colors. They also have a slightly different arrangement. I have included a template of the screen shot to get you started in placing your designs.

  • This set is designed to be used with BFC's Stained Glass Sets, Windows Sets, Quiltables, Crazy Quilt Squares and Quilt Squares. And of course they can be used with any other embroidery that needs a frame or sashing! The sashing pieces are stitched complete in the hoop with backing and batting. As you can see below, by using a combination of strips, squares and mitered corners you can come up with all kinds of arrangements. You just zig zag the sashing pieces together. You will receive full instructions on creating these sashings and how to use them along with illustrations of possible layouts. You will also receive 3 designs that can be used to make any of the above BFC designs sets or any appropriate sized embroidery design into a *quilt in the hoop* design. (You can see these designs by clicking on Design Sizes below). PLEASE NOTE: while the complete set says there are 48 designs, there are actually only 38 distinct designs. The squares are the same for each size grouping.

  •  Vegetables might not be quite the right name for this set as I think you'll find some fruit has snuck in too. But they are all bright and cheery. I snatched up Fred's test stitch outs to make the wall hanging below - I had been looking for something for my newly painted red, black and white kitchen. They would also make great kitchen towels, place mats, or table runners and the free design could go on a set of matching napkins. And for the gardeners, how about a denim gardening shirt?

  • It's hard to think of Japan without thinking of dolls. Fred has named these Miniatures because so many Japanese dolls go way beyond our idea of a doll. Between the expressions on their faces and the beautiful detail on their robes, these designs would be perfect to include in any oriental project - a quilt, a wall hanging, a table cover. I can also see them around the border of a black linen jacket for spring or on white silk dresser scarf for that special bureau.

  • I love Peacocks but it is difficult to do Peacock designs because you lose all the beautiful detail of their feathers in a small design. So I've chosen to do a *Peacock Portrait*. I have shown the designs stitched in regular thread for the individual design pictures, but I am using many metallic threads on my large picture. I am stitching these on one piece of fabric. The designs come with basting stitches you can use to line up the designs. I have also included a file with the actual metallic threads i used and which colors I substituted with them. In addition you receive our usual Thread conversion chart showing several major brands of thread.

The small set of designs will make a picture (without any borders added) 12"x16", the medium will be 15"x20" and the large, 17.5"x23".

PLEASE NOTE: If you want to purchase the small size of this set, please check the stitch count by clicking on *Check sizes* below. There is a high stitch count in these designs and I want to be sure you are comfortable stitching them before purchasing.

  • Scandinavian designs are clean cut, often symmetrical to give a neat look and fit very well into many country themes. You can use these designs to create a complete quilt or as shown below smaller projects. The center design on my wall hanging is from the Scandinavian Designs set. You get full instructions on completing the designs and stitching them together. I've also included directions for the wall hanging below. These designs are completely finished right in the hoop - embroidery, backing and batting. And they have quilting that goes through to the back so you have a real quilt feel throughout your project.

  • This set is created from more formal Victorian designs. The second Quilt in the Hoop set for this series is of the more romantic type. The designs from both sets can be combined for larger projects. They can be used as frames for your Victorian ladies or to create a quilt using the ladies as the main focal points. The designs have two colors to allow you to add backing and backing fabric and they can be done in two colors or all one color as I've stitched them for the samples. The screen shots give some examples of how they can be combined.

NOTE: This set has a Jumbo size designed specifically for the 8x8 inch hoop.

  • The Lady Watching is the fifth set in the Victorian Lady series. As you can tell, she is standing by a window looking out - is she waiting for someone? Is she watching something happening? You can create her story. :)

You will receive an Ideas file that tells you several ways to construct your picture. Among them is using a satin stitch border to complete the design squares. These will be included with all the Victorian Lady sets so if you wish you can make a complete quilt in the hoop.

The small set of designs will make a picture (without any borders added) 12"x16", the medium will be 15"x20" and the large, 17.5"x23".

The Victorian Lady Series consists of: Windows - Lady with Lilacs, Windows - Lady in Red, Victorian Quilt in the Hoop I, Victorian Quilt in the Hoop II, Windows - The Lady Watching and Windows - The Lady in Waiting

  • Every gardener's heart can't help but skip a beat when seed packets first arrive in the stores. We may resist, but we want all of them. :) When I found these images I had to do them - don't you love the prices? This set is very versatile because you can stitch the entire designs as I have for the pillow and the shirt, or skip the white and black backgrounds and use just the flower as I did for the sachet. I think any gardener in your life would like presents made with these designs. Seed Packets Flowers Pack is a companion set that has just the flowers but in larger sizes (with some editing to make them work in the larger size).

In the sizes below you see the 4x4 version is different. Rather than lose the detail by shrinking these designs, I have chosen the main portion of each to make the smaller size.
